most people on AL would be best suited for the street class, very similar to the clubsprint class (WTAC) with a few little additions.

http://trackbattle.com.au/trackbattle/info/classes/street-class/

awesome, ive been hanging for these class regulations for a few weeks now.
i've fired the people a few questions regarding the exhaust, rear seat removal and 3 point harness (isnt a normal seatbelt 3 point?).

so far that's you, brenden (swb) and myself who will be entering

Mitchy likes this !

it's due to porsches supposedly being fast ? ... im unsure as last time i checked ...
REAR WHEEL DRIVE
1. Justin Willis - Porsche GT3CS - 0:57.915
2. Matt Bertocchi - Ford FG XR8 - 0:58.018
... porsches are 0.103 faster around barbagallo than a stock FG XR8? :p

LOL SIMON.. read the 2nd part... you can run your 25 !
oh wait... :( put rb20 covers on yo !

SimonR32
12-07-2011, 11:56 AM

Also

- Tyres must have a UTQG tread wear rating of 120 and over

No R-comps

Tocchi

32 fits all those except for

- A working head unit and a pair of speakers must be installed. < Lol.

Edit: dw, read website, will see how..

it's costing me $380 to enter street class, as im not buying advertising air time.

tenfour (?) ive asked them whether my cats + cannon = acceptable. will let you know

michael, mine is 58.03 on used slicks, with a stock falcon (stock exhaust, no tune, factory airbox and filter) ... just with the suspension and brakes

but now it's at Monsta Torque, got a tune, airbox, straight through exhaust, manifold spacers, cam sprocket gears, oil pump, race spec baffled sump, possible e85/tolulene setup, underdrives, and a few other little things. hopefully around 400rwhp, but with a stupid low to mid torque range

Toyo R1-R -> 140
Advan Neova AD08 -> 180

I want to know if they are running the full track or not as the setup they have put forward for the Calder park visit in VIC is a makeshift Dutton style track layout

According to the last info we got from the committee WA Drift series is only running from V8 race through short track for the season because the main straight is apparently not able to be used due to new pit upgrades *shrugs*

personally i dont think WASCC know which way their butt is pointing...

the above V8 corner to short track section only will be used for the drifting part for the Aust Drift Champs too so not alot of dirt dig would occur one might not think ?

The drift set up for this will be from c-red onwards on the short track (this was actually decided on before all the works on the track were known) Its like this to create closer proximatity battles, and a better atmosphere and less pulling muppets out of the sand.

Anyone know if they'll be working on the track when this event is here?

Got an email back from them in regards to clarifying a couple things. IE: Factory metalwork cannot be modified, and the FIA seatbelt thing for street class.

Hi Shane

Flaring/Rolling of guards is permitted. Modifications to the inner guards isn’t permitted.

Many events still allow use of factory seatbelt, and we will possibly allow some people to use them, but we are pushing very strongly for people to use some type of FIA approved harness for the event for added safety.

I’ve seen what happens when you only have a factory seatbelt during a racetrack “incident”

Regards

Track Battle Team

I figured rolled guards would be OK but just wanted to check considering the wording of the rule, and as for the FIA approved seatbelt... Looks like it is time to get a seat and a harness bar, or find a 3 point FIA belt.

not sure if serious...how does a 350rwhp falcon not have grip on barb's?
i've found T1Rs borderline, for a 2 laps, then they turn to a pile of butter, i have the car squirming under brakes.
it's a 1800kg car, at the time with stock power (not stock suspension) running flat 58s on sticky tyres, just recently running low 59s on a damp track, with 357rwhp, old r-comps, and needing a wheel alignment (it crabs).
the car isnt a track weapon, nor is it powerful, it's just setup perfectly (well to go fast around barbagallo, given it's mods).

Hi everyone. As you know there is now a new national drifting series and time attack series run by Track Battle Pty Ltd.

The Australian Drifting Grand Prix - www.australiandriftinggp.com

and

Track Battle - Australian Time Attack Series - www.trackbattle.com.au

Well, to celebrate the fact they are coming to Perth in October, we thought a launch party would be in order, and what better place to have it than the re-vamped Ovaboost Performance workshop in Malaga. The details are:

Ovaboost Performance - 1/72 Westchester Rd Malaga
Saturday 3rd September - 10am-6pm

There will be a BBQ, giveaways, raffle and some drift and time attack cars will be on display, including some of the ADGP registered drivers.

We will also have the new Track Battle and ADGP t-shirts available and you can speak with the staff for more info on the event. You can also speak to me regarding classes, rules, regs, extra coverage etc

And, we will have our Motive DVD film crew there to cover the whole day as a hotspot feature as well as pick some feature cars. We want to make it massive so bring your car and bring your mates along. Day time means we can film more cars and make a bigger and better Perth car scene feature than ever before.

We will also have the latest issue of Motive DVD, #12, as well as new Motive DVD and JET200 T-shirts on sale.

See you all there.

** We will also be filming the drift practice day at Barbagallo on Friday night and the drift/burnout day at Collie on Sunday too

Anyone got any news on how the Calder Park event went this weekend? Was it as successful as they've tried to make it?

DESAM8+PANIK

The day was a hit, everyone loved it from the drifters to the time attack cars entrants to the spectators

Rob Turner (JPC S15) came 5th outright and 2nd in his class ...... for the time attack, Adam Newton won the round outright and also his class (He runs a Evo X)

In the Drifting we had WA born and race bred Tarquin Van Rooyen finish in 2nd place with Danny retiring early as with also Banger with a "banged" box, with Luke Fink winning outright.

The overall end of the day with near on 4000 people through the gates and 95% staying right to the end to see everything. There was a lot of drift in between the time attack with something being on the track all day unless some retard smashed their drift car into the wall slowing the day down a little.

I will be going to the last round in perth, I hear that the entries for time attack just for WA is more than Calder park and Queensland raceway put together, so I would say for those guys wanting to enter the event for time attack in Pert then get your entries in and secure your position, even if your car isn't ready, I am sure some late changes to entrants wont be a problem.

As for the drift competitors I saw 60 cars enter at Calder park alone and that get whittled down to a top 32.

See you all at the last round

I wanted to enter this in street class, but the tyre restriction is making it a tough choice.
I only want to have one set of wheels for my car ( 120 wear rating max in street class), and they may as well be R comps so i can enjoy the sprints that run all year round and not be penalised class-wise. Those regular events judge on engine capacity and drivetrain across a number of venues.
But R comps bump me into a higher class for this event which im not keen on as I wouldn't really have a competitive car when that door is opened up.

I also don't quite understand the union of drift and time attack in one event.
Even with an open mind, Drift is a 10 min novelty for me, and I would guess drifters feel the same way about time attack.

Hopefully these two can be successful enough to split into two focussed events.
You'll get my $ as a spectator this year unless some stroke of luck makes it possible for me to have more than one set of class-competitive tyres to run. :)

tinto - I think the union of the events works well actually. The two attract a fairly similar market (ie mostly import fans) which is already small to begin with. To divide it again doesn't make a lot of sense. By combining the two it becomes a day where spectators can enjoy seeing some variety and the competitors get to enjoy the atmosphere and prestige of a big event.
I wouldn't really consider going to a time attack and I haven't been to see drift for ages, but with the two together I would be interested in attending, unfortunately I have drags both days though! :/

So who else is entering? We have some spots left in the time attack.

Seems some people aren;t entering due to rules and regs. Some are flexible, some aren't, such as tyres.

If you have a questionable mod, let us know and we'll make the call.

Event is looking set to be epic!!! We're also running a Top 10 time attack shootout for the crowd on Satruday
