Driving standards: You will inevitably be punted during the evening (from accidents or lag) but 'revenge' punts just breed more shit driving.
Keep it clean. Even if you think you've been hard done by. Keep it clean.

> Any car 550pp* or less
> Any car 450pp* or less

628pp - HKS CT230R '08 (Evo)

Driving Standards

Some drivers are obviously faster than others but we're all racing for fun so boost is turned on to keep the pack together.

> Give each other racing room. No other pushing or ramming other cars off the tarmac.
> If you accidentally push or hit a competitor off the track, slow and let them re-pass you to address the situation (apologising via your headset will also help).
> If you deliberately push or hit a competitor off the track, you won't be invited back.

we had 10 people on monday night racing clean, even vyssute was moderately clean (or just couldnt keep up without boost maxed?) so i dont see how 6 more people is any reason for this to be messy, it seems people have given up on fair moves on thursdays.

also unpack your games if you can guys, should stop the slow load times between and before races

Will there be a lot of the Performance Points races? Lately we haven't been doing that much of the 630pp races, if there are going to be more of the 450/550/630 races I'll use something different in my garage built to that level otherwise I'll just use the recommended cars.

How do you unpack

Menu, go to the very bottom, one of the options down there has an install main game data option, basically writes as much information as it can to the hdd so the PS already has it and doesnt need to search the disk for it. makes loading tracks, cars and photo locations etc much faster.

i generally try do it once a week and every time i seems to unpack an extra 100mb of info

MGR, or anyone else that owns Dirt 3:

I bought mine from ozgameshop.com and was informed by people on here afterwards that since it's a UK copy of the game they send, I might not be able to connect to Aussies in online races and such.

I received it the other day and need some ozzy chaps to sign in so i can see if i can find them. Some quick looks in the multiplayer section turned up a bunch of Euro people (by looking at their PSN profile), so I'm not sure what's gonna happen. If it works, I don't need to try and get $50 back…

Anyone care to sign in to DIRT a bit after 8pm before GT5 in order to help me out?

Thanks,
Alex

Nah, i was just using shit or overly powered cars.

I reakon bump up the 630 class to 650 instead. that way you have 650/550/450 classes and plenty of vehicle choice between.

Anyone hosting a pre-serious fuck around session this arvo?

just go into mgr's room before he comes online. i'll probably jump in around 8'sh

AGIT8D

Na the last time we did that everyone had to pile back out as we thought someone else would essentially be hosting the room if they were at the top of the list..

Tre-Cool
07-07-2011, 02:37 PM
that's correct. the 1st person into the room hosts it. if they leave the 2nd person starts to host it.

no big deal really.

AGIT8D

The deal is I want to fuck around online this arvo, but don't want to host using my wireless connection, so I want to find out if any other homies will be online hosting in their own room or in MGR's :D

Please try to have your 550/450pp cars ready before racing tonight. You can buy upgrades (power, tyres) for your cars online now to get them up to spec and you can de-tune as well to get them under the PP limit. But we don't want to be fucking about for 10 minutes between each race while people tweak/upgrade/downgrade cars.

Will there be a lot of the Performance Points races? Lately we haven't been doing that much of the 630pp races, if there are going to be more of the 450/550/630 races I'll use something different in my garage built to that level otherwise I'll just use the recommended cars.

We often do races where a small selection of cars are used (like the RX7, WRX, Evo) because they're so close in Performance Points. Opening up options to anything under 450pp will provide a lot more variety and hopefully will still keep the racing reasonably close.

I reakon bump up the 630 class to 650 instead. that way you have 650/550/450 classes and plenty of vehicle choice between.

The 630, 550, and 450pp limits were chosen because even if you don't have a 1000+ car personal garage you still have a small selection of different competitive cars to chose from in the arcade list. Plus some JTGC and DTM cars struggle to hit 630pp, so 650pp would be too high in my opinion. You can always easily de-tune a car to get it down to 630pp anyway.

I have the Aussie version and I'm constantly being matched up against Euros so I'd say the online part won't be a problem.

The only issue may be purchasing DLC for the game from the Australian PSN store. I know from personal experience that DLC from the Aussie store won't work with U.S. games.

Euro/UK games on the other hand should be OK but it may vary from game to game.

Supposedly another thing that helps the loading times before races is to all go into the pits when the race start countdown starts. There is a guy a race with that boots people if they don't do it, never has a problem with starts, black screen is usually only there a couple of seconds.

Can we have boost on medium please? It's still enough to catch up on most races... 8 laps on high boost sees the linters climb back in then fuck it for everyone three or four times. Tends to calm everyone down when we aren't closing on the pack at 50+ km/hr higher. Sure NASCAR and nurburg ring etc need high boost but isn't low enough?

Brockas

In MGR's lounge now with vyssute if anyone is interested in a few preliminary races.

First time I've had connection troubles, but I didn't manage to get a single race all night :(

I guess I'll try my luck next week.

Sciflyer
08-07-2011, 07:15 AM
yeah either 16 players = fucked or GT5 server = fucked

joined then disco'd right before the start of a race so had to wait, then got about halfway thru Laguna race and disco'd again, couldnt get back in because the room was full, gave up after that

waste of time...

TBH assuming Marks' connection is good im thinking its more to do with GT5 not being able to handle 16 players well as the OCAU championship races where we have about half that number rarely have problems, we did a 45 minute race on wednesday, no one had any connection issues afaik

Maybe we need to look at having two hosts now that we have more people?

Jaak

same got in for the very first race , awesome fun . On the grid for the second one BAM!! ,rage quit after the third d/c.

Fusion
08-07-2011, 11:12 AM
The connection certainly was up the shit. I was following Brockas one lap it was all good. Second lap he started to lag and move a car length at a time and on the third he got D/C. There was only a handful of cars that didn't seem to lag/have connection issues.

But the first 2 450PP races were good fun!

Crispymk2

Room was full so I did some of the seasonal races instead, few hours later I woke up and was parked up in the sand trap after falling asleep while racing. Had been there for half an hour based on the lap time.

Miggy
08-07-2011, 12:12 PM
lol^

It was definitely a GT5/PSN network problem I have a great connection and rarely have any problems but yesterday was just fucked I couldn't see some people on the track like Dave said and sometimes cars in front of me would just shoot forward and spin out and crash so I'm not sure if that was me crashing into you but on my screen I wasn't!

Besides that there was some really good racing in the 450/550pp racing I was expecting everyone to come out with crazy skid machines but everyone seemed to have really well set up time attack cars so the racing was awesome.

Sciflyer
08-07-2011, 12:54 PM
Yeh i dont usually have any connection issues either but these last couple of weeks when we've had a full server its been fucked, whereas i race every week on servers with about half the players and its fine

Makes me think its either a bandwidth problem or GT5 netcode just cant handle 16 players very well

ALEX.
08-07-2011, 01:34 PM
We haven't had any real problems on GT5 with 16 players in the past, it's just been the last ~month? Since the latest update or something.
I hope they sort their stuff out if it's PD or Sony's fault.
It can't be us because MGR has always been host, hasn't changes settings and we usually have the same players.

Butcher
08-07-2011, 01:45 PM
I have found that since psn came back online i haven't had a night without connection problems. All other consoles,pc's have been faultless.
