I haven't actually played GTA IV, but after viewing this, I'm probably going to get it for PC.

GTA IV must be pretty cheap now days... I'm with you, after seeing that, I'm keen to dl it and mod... Was never a fan of the 'cartoonyness' of GTA.

wow you two are seriously missing out. it's not really that "cartoony" to begin with, but you become adjusted to the graphics very quickly. the game is unreal, the GTA series games are always the games i look forward to the most, cannot WAIT for GTA5.

That video is the exact reason why PC is better of everything (not that I play PC), the fact you can change the game to the way you'd like it and more, provided you have the skills.

agreed, however the ease of consoles makes them much more accessible. plug and play.
i got gta4 with the ps3 i bought 2nd hand, i have played, loved, and almost finished 3, vice and san andres, is it worth playing 4 then? guess i could kind of get into it, pretty much strictly been playing gt5 since i got the ps3..
is it a good/better than SA? i really enjoyed the size and scope of that game, flying planes into the country and running from cops on on a bicycle

Yer I have a PS3 as well, because its easier and I just prefer it. Definitely play GTA IV. Its obviously different than SA (which was awesome) but get your hands on it before the next one comes out in case it continues on from it...not that it will, but just in case.

Buy it on Steam, they are having a summer sale so you could probably pick it up for 15-20 bucks.

^ Yes! Picked up GTA4 and EFLC for $10 each on Steam back in April sometime. Had a bunch of custom cars and shit before but they were dodgy and the game would randomly crash... this new all-in-one mod looks the goods!
The biggest problem I have with GTA 4 on PC is the definition toggle. The motion blur is cool at high speed but the game looks washed out and shit :( can't just have the motion blur with the crisp look.

People have been modding GTA for years, even GTA III you could make "realistic" with real cars and etc. A lot of people used ZModeler to model their cars for the games.
So many FANTASTIC mods out there for III, Vice City, San Andraes and IV - if you haven't checked out what you can do - you should, the limits are almost endless. People were adding their own islands to maps etc. Some massive communities are out there modding the shizzle out of these games with fantastic results. :)

Just an FYI, I don't believe that mod works well/at all with the current version of the game, so you need to roll it back to an earlier version. This means if you're using steam with it you're in annoyance-ville.
I was looking into this a little while ago, and I don't think it was/is fully finished, and if so you need a pretty monster rig to run it.
All of the textures and car mods are available without that mod, it just adds some fancy lighting and renders.
But your mileage may vary, can't really remember from when I looked at it before, put it in the too hard basket.

Dude that's running in the high res mode as well, can tell from the text. DOS version FTW yo!
Mate and I edited our own cars into that game, made one with like 500ton weight and a negative friction coefficient...game engine didn't like that. Called it the "Death Blossom" as you could get in and drive it at 5km an hour max, touch something and proceed to pinball/teleport around the screen, running people over and exploding cars. good times!

didn't want to start a new thread... but just came across this:
http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/gta-iv-graphics-mod-2013-edition-f19312
seeing that shelby gt500 and charger r/t alone with some current model mercs makes me want to download it and give the PC version a shot!
I used to have all the older GTAs with mods on PC and even started creating my own cars for it, but gave up and lost interest. this mod seems to bring a ridiculous new life to the game.

i remember having vice city on pc and modding it up, got one of the small rwd cars and changed all the limits on it. gave it heaps of hp, gave it big rims, lowered the fuck out of it and drifted everywhere
