Just changed my diff and now it's registering an ABS fault
Light on the dash.
Car is a VYSS.
I've cleaned the contacts on the sensors foe the stub axles.
Any suggestions

Check the rear sensor plugs. My friend had a similar issue, turned out to be a dodgey connection.

word of advise mate, not trying to shit stir but given your track record in your own mechanical thread i would keep all mech advise to yourself for the time being.
As for the ABS issue check all plugs and connections. Make sure you havent bent the tiny pins in the plug over when u have connected it, its very easy to do.
If you really get stuck go a mechanics and and they can plug into the diagnosis machine and will be able to tell you whats wrong in seconds.

No worries thanks mate, I haunt actually disconnected anything to do with the abs as far as plugs etc.
Got me stumped why it's just popped up all the sudden

doesnt the ABS on a commodore have it notch wheel/sensor i guess you'd call it mounted at the diff end of the axles?
Is it possible when you have put the axles back in they have not lined up with the sensor? maybe didnt put a shim or something back in the right spot, i know its a long shot but just a suggestion.

Can be a few things, are the drive shafts back in properly for the sensor to read off of ?
Did you leave the ignition on or anything like that when you did the job ?
Make sure the plugs are back in the right way around, but they only go in one way so I don't forsee you fucking that up. You've obviously upset something in the rear.

Yeah stubs and shafts back in as they were, all I did was remove diff centre and disconnect the 2 x sensors on the back of the diff.
Strange..

Sensor ring same amount of teeth on them ? Failing that have a brake shop or mechanic plug in computer to see what fault is

All seems to be in and fitted properly, I used my original stub axles so same amount of teeth etc.

You didnt stretch the wires when removing the diff, they can be quite fragile and if they are stretched they can snap inside causing an open circuit.

Did you run it in the air, front wheels down and rear wheels up when you did the diff? Ie rear wheels turning and front wheels stationary...... we get them all the time when we run a car on the hoist and the rear wheels troll along and the fronts are sitting still

Still cannot believe you have tried to give mechanical advice.

Nothing was connected when I removed the diff, like I said all I did was unbolt the 2 sensors off the rear of the diff housing before I pulled it out, I didn't disconnect them from the loom at all.
Car was run for a second off the ground, until it registered the abs fault, then put wheels back on lowered it back onto the ground and took it for a drive, everything seems to be fine, just the annoying alarm.

Sounds like its logged an implausable data code because the rear wheels were moving and the fronts werent so the car thinks the sensors are faulting.
Just needs to be cleared and all should be fine.

So you're saying everytime the back wheels spin but fronts dont move the abs may come on ?
seems logical
Only way to find out is plug in tech2 and check where the fault code has come from , could be totally unrelated although very coincidental.
Once the code is cleared it should be fine , if it comes back on then you have issues.
Did you by any chance forget tp put the shims back on the sensors ?

as above if you left it in ignition or accessories and unplugged the sensors on the rear it will be why and unfortunately tech 2 should clear the codes

seems logicalit does on the VEs LOL!!
after a dyno run my ABS and ESP flicker like christmas tree lights

Happens all the time at work starting cars with wheels off the ground.
Fuck knows why it doesnt happen doing static burnouts though my VZ threw an ABS light once doing a burnout..

Just about every car with abs that ive started and run on a hoist has brought up an abs light. They typically dont like such huge differences in wheel speed... eg; some subaru automatics go into complete spastic mode when driven in the air, applying brakes and not revving...
most of the lights go away once you restarted the car and drive it away, some need to be cleared..
