Nice work champ! Why did you decide on this over the sti?
The sti I wanted sold, which was a bummer.
The handling and just getting the power to the ground was much better in the evo than the sti.
Still cant complain, both are top cars but this was 2nd on the list to purchase

whats peoples thoughts on removing the badging?
hair dryer then use fishing line to pop it off?
what could i use to clean up the adhesive?
Stealthed
02-07-2011, 08:23 PM
I was thinking of doing it to mine, just the mitsu logo on the rear. I've seen it done with a hair dryer and fishing line or better yet a heat gun, then use some sort of polish/wax & grease remover to help remove the glue etc
That's the only way I know of, if there are any better ways I'd be keen to hear them!!

Hey Nik nice purchase :)
I've used eucalyptus oil to clean successfully up the gunk with no damage to the paint.

Nice buy Nik!
Can confirm GSR's definitely came with SST option, and am definitely a manual -> SST convert! :)
As has been said, debadge using the fishing line first and then eucalyptus oil to get any remaining glue off!
There are getting to be a number of these beasts on the forums now! Good to see! :D
Congrats on the car. Loving the white :) now all you need is some black rims...

03-07-2011, 07:04 AM
Nik, the badges come off very easy.
I left my car out in the sun for 30min and used some fishing line to pull away at the badges. It took less than 10 minutes to remove them. To remove the left over tape I used wax and grease remover on a microfiber then polished the area.
Yours will come off easier than mine im guessing being newer.

Agreed, although some of the purists might argue otherwise, stating the series went soft from the VI onwards.

4b11 love. I've got all the openport 2 hardware and rom def's for this model if you want to borrow it for a day. Poxy m32186 ecu's security didnt last for long. Remove the torque limiters, airflow checks, limp home modes etc in the ROM and best thing is mitsubishi wont know jack unless they do a CRC comparison. The stock fuelling maps dip well into the 9.x afr's and timing even goes ATDC in the some boundaries of the 3 maps. Even little rom changes like disabling the drive by wire throttle limiting in 1st and 2nd makes a huge difference. 72% throttle fail.
There's even been developments lately on the AYC and Traction ecu's to allow more/less slip and pretty much total control over the power distribution.

flashing the factory ecu. Pretty much every parameter is configurable aswell as being able to write whole new code into the ecu itself. No Lift To Shift, antilag, check engine light flashing on knock. Crazy shit. Guys making 700+ hp on the factory ecu. Evo x being so emissions compliant does some silly ass things. Basically you get an openport 2 usb cable, read the ROM from the car, load it up with an XML definition file and change what you wish. For example the evox has a throttle limiter which gives 72 to 78% throttle in 1st and 2nd both in manual and SST version which is calculated from RPM and MPH thus giving the ecu an indication of what gear its in. You set the setpoint higher to say 171 RPM/MPH thus giving 100% throttle in all gears. You can wind the boost up and set target load levels that the closed loop controller will aim for, change the mivec timing (which makes a huge difference on a stockie), change all the ignition and fuel maps. Shit just about anything. I spent close to 6 months infront of a pc decoding the colt ralliart ecu which is very similar to the evox strangely and developed definition files etc. Put a stock car on the dyno making 92 fwkw, changed a few basic fuel, ignition and limits and made 127 fwkw. Not bad for a bit of code with afr's in the 11's and no knock count. The evo x guys make some crazy stock power with a flash.
Come service time unless they've got a good tech who actually knows anything about the ecu they are completely unaware.
Anyway
/rant over

Are you some sort of retard?
It was a simple question fuck wit ?
You can use gps tracking for so many different things like when running gym khanas or motorkhanas. on the coast I was using a gps tracker for that or you can use them for time attacks or rally.
Like I said it was a simple question I did a lot of research in to which gps trackers are better. when I was racing my Hachi at the mount cotton hill climb an motor khanas.
Or did you want it for plain old car security?
Surely anyone wanting to monitor their track work would use a performance box.
Not a single mention on the website about track work tracking
Surely it didnt need to be asked to begin with.
OLLIE
18-07-2011, 04:40 PM
He really didn't say what he was using it for just asked any one familiar with it so I asked what u wanting to use it for. If u want it for security just invest in a good security system
A good security system means fuckall when the car is towed away or they take your keys.
BTW VERY keen to see your logs of using a tracking website to log your motorsport endevours.

If you had gps tracking, would you only check your car's whereabouts after it has been found burnt or stripped? Srsly...

What else are you going to do report it to the police which they will say we can't get finger prints from it due to it's been burnt out and then take it to an insurance company. Once it's gone up in flames there isn't much else u can do with it .

Arriving yesterday were some HID lights

Also ordered a Torque Solutions short shifter and bushes to go with it, this eliminates the notchy 2nd/3rd gear.
After that, time for turbo inlet pipe/filter, exhaust and a tune.

Bit of an update.
Was tasting some of the nespresso pods on the weekend and got a bit out of hand and resulted in a caffeine high, which resulted in buying an AEM Intake.
Still waiting on my short shifter/bushes to arrive from the states, also will be looking around for an exhaust system soon. Not sure if I should go dual or single at present. Thoughts?

With the exhaust, my mate put a tomei titanium single on his evo x and it started melting the defuser thing at the rear underneath the car.. just be careful when fitting it there is enough room.

I like the dual personally as well... I think it looks empty without twin tips... but if Clint can do twin cannons, that is a win! :)
p.s - fit the intake before tomorrow so I can check it out tomorrow night!... Along with your HID's! ;)

ETS downpipe on is way, should be here in 7days or so, next is to find a tuner..
Instead of starting a new thread, might as well add stuff to this.
Where can I buy some vacuum hose? Need some for my boost gauge and other lines under the bonnet.

unless you already have the AEM ecu , you'll need it to run the wideband
Looked at getting it in mine but opted for another brand that didnt require me forking out more money than I needed to
