Fair enough the article wasn't written about WA but you would assume things wouldn't be too different over the border. Every time I've read a notice from WAPOL in the paper about an impound it was usually a shitter or family car. (I remember seeing one for a Prado once). Further proof of a failed policy?
return per hoon vehicle new unit of measure.
that reveals something to the pubilc, police and politians that most of us already new:
DRIVING A PERFORMANCE CAR DOES NOT MEAN YOU'RE A HOON!

perhaps they are targeting the right group if only by mistake. this law is about stopping "hoon" drivers and yet they complain that its only catching people in bombs. well what do you expect to catch? people with cars worth over $800? what do you want? cars that are worth more to make you some money? not gonna happen. you catch people in the act (and hopefully have proof. not just "my word is proof") and yet whine the laws aren't working. i though this law was about catching dangerous drivers racing or showing off not just harassing people with expensive cars for a quick buck. apparently not. infact enthusiasts are just as annoyed at "hoons" as everyone else and im sure that many would gladly point some officers in the direction of any bogan they seen in his VN trying to "drift" around a corner. hoons make true car lovers look like morons and cause them to suffer from undue harassment from police because of that. REMEMBER: enthusiasts hate hoons just as much as you do if you actually want to stop "hooning" why not try working WITH enthusiasts instead of against them. you may even save some lives in the process.

I agree,
I find that we often feel marginalised by this problem, but on the other end of the argument we're also continually complaining about dick-head drivers in non performance vehicles.
While some of us are being caught out for doing what is regarded as illegal - these laws are also being wielded against genuine idiots on the roads. This article solidifies that.
While I received one today for my car - I have been noticing more and more 'vanilla' cars driving around with stickers, which in some regards helps reinforce the point that - by in large we are becoming less of the focus.
