i just put a fmic on my r33. drove it to the shops before i done it. everything was fine. put the fmic on. went to start it after i done it all and it wouldnt start, cleaned afm, disconnected battery to try reset the computer, got another afm and it still wont go. it starts runs for 5 seconds then turns off.

read online before that it a r33 has more then 238rwkts it wont run with a stock afm. dont think it has that much power yet.

anyone know what might be wrong?

Does it have an aftermarket tune & ECU? Is there an inbuilt security feature that you have activated by disconnecting the battery? Like some Kalmakers.

They start but only run for 5 seconds

you may have disconnected the crank angle sensor or pulled on the wires id check that and make sure its plugged in.

if the cas was disconnected, it wouldn't run..

sounds kinda like the fuel pump isn't running, its priming, but not running when the car does, but the options are endless, check every connection, mainly the cas/afm/tps/idle control..

mkke sure the fuel pump is running, make sure you haven't somehow disconnected an idle control vacum line, or have a huge vacum leak somewhere..

read online before that it a r33 has more then 238rwkts it wont run with a stock afm.

Not at all true. the internet is full of lies!

really sounds like you've left a pipe disconnected somewhere. Sometimes they can look connected but just be sitting against each other. Grab them all and give them a shake to check every connection is nice and tight. Also check the small rubber pipe that connects to your intake pipe just to the right of where your stock blow off valve sits.

Your car still runs an afm so everything has to be airtight, NO LEAKS :D

(sorry if this is all obvious but best start with basics haha)

sounds like air bypassing the AFM, check EVERY intercooler pipe connection. does the car start and run really really rough and stall?

if so I have my money on a big cooler hose/pipe leak. Pull on every connection, just make sure the AFM is plugged in also ;)

If it ran fine before the cooler install its going to be that, I've installed lots of cooler kits on RB's and they always start up fine straight after.

I wouldnt be suprised if you have plugged them in wrong and its fried the AFM, then gone and plugged a diffrent AFM in to c if that was the prob but plugged it in wrong again and blown another AFM.

I'd pull the cooler pipes out again and have a good look over everything in the areas they run and make sure you havent knocked any plugs out. Then if you find nothing closly inspect all the wiring loom in the area as you may of sliced into the loom by accident and its earthing out.

If it runs in limp mode then dies when u plug the AFM in then there is a pretty good chance this is the issue, if a working AFM is swapped in and the issue is still there then logic would tell you that its a problem with the loom.

Taking it to a mechanic to plug in "the computer" is not gonna tell you if there is an issue with the loom.

You will find that the wires going to the air flow meter will be broken/loose.
It will turn on your fuel pump for a little bit to prime your fuel rail while cranking and if the ecu doesnt get a signal from the afm to say the engine is running it will turn off the pump=engine dies.
It does this so if you have an accident and your engine stalls with a fuel line broken it wont pump out more fuel onto the ground around the car.
This is how it works with toyota's with an afm, pretty sure nissan poo will be the same.

So it sounds like you said you have removed the wires from the AFM connector to check them. If so, someone that has an R33 with the S2 R33 AFM would need to check this, but I thought the wires in the connector went

white -> orange -> black

but in the video you posted they go

orange -> white -> black

Have you put them back in the connector in the incorrect order?

I'm not 100% sure on this so like I said, get someone else with a 33 to check the order of the wires in the connector.

For instant power move the CAS about 5mm clock wise (you should be able to loosen it and twist it) they back it off in Japan due to power and speed limits.

Hope you got the AFM sorted!

Fucking idiots.

We have all been young and inexperienced.

Absolutely no need for some of these comments.

Do not wind your cas forward.

Bite your pride, get it to a electrican, get it fixed. Enjoy it in a safe environment.

Agreed, pulling the piss out of some one for being a bit naive is one thing and can be worth a few laughs, but tellin him to spin the CAS is a bit of a dog move as there is a pretty high chance it will grenade the motor.
