3.08 or 3.46 gears?

I've got a 3.46 centre but it's missing something which we used for my Kaaz 3.9 centre. Unsure what, but I'll look into it more. PM me what you want to spend.

3.46 will require speedo adjustment but willmake your car a tiny bit quicker.

I believe Dan's is missing the stub axles i can help you change them if you dont know how.

I want to keep my spare diff.

At least with LS equiped cars the speedo calibration is easy. Mine i had to wire in a correction box.

Have you tried ebay, there are always a few on there.

As Benry said a 3.46 diff will assist in boogying off the lights a little quicker which is always nice for some trick HP. But speedo will need a tweak.

Mine is missing stub axles from memory but am looking into that currently. Once I get the deets I'll PM you, as it's just sitting around doing nothing. It came out of my 100,000km SS, and was a new item under warranty before I bought the car. Spins two in a line, I've never whipped a nut in the SS so I can't tell you if it goes 2 in circles but it's fairly tight.

its easier to fit a spool with them out anyway

thats ok my speedo is out already.
Whats required in changing stub axles, new orings/seals?
I could just reuse my stubs .

Yeah reuse your ones. Tap them out of your diff, then pop them into the new diff with your hand.

It is actually the easiest thing to do.

Forged - it is easy on a ls to change but it is another cost.

Yeah understood, what kinda of cost involved out of curiosity?

Have you changed a diff before?

You need a few tools -

Allen keys
Ratchet spanners are ideal for the kframe bolts
Socket Set
A 27mm? socket for the diff mount bolts with a large breaker bar undo these before you undo the kframe bolts, other wise you will need a rattle gun on the table.
There are also these stupid star bolts on the diff side of the tailshaft. I have always undone this with a smaller socket and a rattle gun. They are very hard to get out with a ratchet.

It is actually fairly easy to change if you have the right tools. I suggest you get a set of allen key sockets with a 1/2 inch drive will make life much easier!

I have always done a diff with a tune (highstall and diff install), (new car mafless tune and diff install) etc- so the cost of a mafless tune from my tuner. If this guy has 314rwhp I would assume he hasd a mafless tune so his tuner should be able to change it free of charge if he is based in Perth.

It is not as bad in a manual but an auto's shift points will be stuffed to a degree without tune adjustments.

As holden models came out with 3.08, 3.46, 3.7, 3.91 i think there is simply a box you can select in the tuning software.

Do auto's shift with wheel speed or rpm though? I didn't think it would affect gear shifts as it will just bring up the rpm quicker and thus grab the next gear at a slightly lower km/h as it would've with the stock gears.

Either way, PM coming your way ca18

Thanks stumps that should get me going.
So do the stubs have a seal around them which will need replacing?

From what I have read it is a combination of both, so if you change your diff and just the speedo it will work, but wont shift at the optimum range.

As mentioned above I have always done it whilst changing numerous other parts so have always used had a new tune.

They do have a seal around them, I would only change it if it is leaking and I doubt it will be.

As you can see where the "circlip" goes.

This is not a circlip as such, you don't need to pull the diff apart to get to it, SImply apply outward pressure and it will pop out. Long flat head screwdriver and a hit with a hammer and it will literally pop out. When you put it into the new diff line it up and push it in with your hand. It will pop back in when in place.

I have changed diffs 5/6 times in both my cars and done a few mates so I am full bottle on any issues you may have. Feel free to PM with any questions. ( I will be overseas for the next two weeks and wont be able to help then)

auto shift is a combination of speed & rpm.

for a wot shift to complete it needs to hit the speed first, then rpm.
