Hey guys.

Trying to get my rear camber arms and re-con coilovers in tonight, all finished bar I rear arm I can not get out due to a stubborn bolt.

Basically need ideas to get it off, or a mobile mechanics number on call on a friday night that doesn't charge a fortune to get this 1 pingpingpingping of a bolt out.

This is the bolt.

Can't get rattle gun to it due to fuel tank on 1 side, driveshaft on the other.

This is what it has done to my spanner already...

Have tried a can of WD40, heat, linking spanners, bashing the spanner to try shock it like a rattle gun, pingpingpingping get the prick.

Need it on the road for tomorrow morning, stressing out.... Any ideas?

No offence but your spanners look cheap.

Use a socket with a pole over the end (ghetto) or a breaker bar if you have one

Have you tried/can you fit a air ratchet?
Can you fit a socket with breaker bar? Or slip two spanners over one another for more leverage?

And pray to god you don't strip the thread either :)

If you keep trying and round it, use a big fuck off Stilson.

Use a single hex socket and breaker bar.
That's too rounded to keep using a triple hex or open ended spanner.

Can't fit a socket, picture doesn't show how small a space it really is, so can't use my 'breaker bar' (Rusty shovel without the shovel head over the end of a ratchet)

Almost 100% sure air ratchet wouldn't fit, don't have one to try with either Scaf.

And yeh, bent the first spanner by slipping 1 on the other and trying to get the thing off using my legs instead of arms, still didn't move.

Located in Kalamunda, but pretty much given up after making a mess of the nut. Problem is car is only on stands, not a huge amount of room to fit a big breaker bar/pipe.

Just going to leave that arm on, get it where it needs to be tomorrow, and either take the grinder to it, or see if my mechanic can chuck it on the hoist for 30 minutes.

Cheers for the help guys.

Pffft don't give up now.
Vice grips, as tight as they'll go, and the biggest hammer you've got.

Bit dodgey, but it works.

Try shock loading the spanner with hammer. That should 'crack' the bolt/nut open. I broke few spanners by slowly applying an increased load. Just shock/impact load it

this is absolutely no help to you, but if you had decent tools that bolt would not even pose the slightest problem...

18 years old and a Uni student, can't afford the worlds best tools. Managed to do the other side fine...

I've tried smacking the spanner with a hammer, tried a heat gun and used about half a can of WD40 on it. About to try the vice grips with a hammer now...

give up before you fuck the head

impact socket + breaker bar

if it wont go on use a good spanner and slip a pipe over it

go and buy a single ring spanner, so you don't round the bolt, get a piece of pipe and use for leverage as said before

ring spanner shouldnt slip unless ur using the wrong size or pulling it on the piss.

go get a flat 0 degree offset ring spanner.

or just get a good spanner and double up spanners for leverage.

Used 0 degree ring spanner doubled up with another, and it slipped when I was using my foot to try get it undone and fucked the nut.

Car is at panelbeaters today Matt, will give it another shot tomorrow. Can you PM me your number though, lost it when my phone shat itself.

If the nut is definitely fucked then your best best is a hammer and a sharp cold chisel, offset the chisel so when you hit it the nut will go in the rotation to loosen it, if you get what I mean, it does work,I use this method for fucked bolts on drill rigs.
Otherwise grinder and replace nut/bolt.

Fuuuuaaarkkkkkk.

Got it off, only took vicegrips and a long as fuck pole.

Lost a spanner and cracked a socket trying to get the bastard off.

As you can see, nut isn't in the best shape anymore...

Cheers for the help guys. Glad I finally sorted it out.
