Seeing as there's eleventy billion photography buffs on AL, I thought it would be interesting to get some snaps of the lunar eclipse happening next week.

It is a total lunar eclipse, making it all the more interesting. Apparently WA has the best viewing.

It's on the night of the 15th/morning of the 16th June and starts around 1:30 I believe. It will peak at 4:15 with the moon becoming red.

If, like me, you're into getting up and seeing special astronomical events, post up some pics here. I would, but my 400D doesn't have an ISO10,000,000,000 setting like some people around here...

for moon shots you would be suprised how short an exposure you need, i remember taking shots with my old 400d. needa BIG zoom lens though, more than my 75-300 anyway, anyone got a 400mm they dont need for the night?

go take pics of the moon now and work out your exposure :P

I just used 55-200 last time and played around with settings till it looked like a moon again.

Sweet, will be my last night shift at Area C before I fly home so instead of trying to sleep in a bulldozer I can watch this after lunch!

I know. That's what generally happens during a full moon.

It'll change, don't worry. Stay up late or get up early - it should be pretty awesome.
