View Full Version : 40 km/hr in the city from June 20!
Just received a note via work that main roads will officially change the speed limits in the city and NB to 40km/hr from June 20 onwards.
Work seemingly blocking me from uploading the picture so can't throw up the banner.
Yay for going even slower in the city!

40km/h on brake is enough for you though isn't it Paul ? :D

Who cares?
I mean its not like you often do over that in the city anyway. 95% of people are only driving there in peak hour. Will be interesting to see what the boundaries are though.

Well in 143 days when this CHOGM bullshit starts, it's going to drop to 0kph.

I got it in my work email too, fuck all change really, it's just the CBD, as in all the roads from Hill Street to the Freeway, and from Mounts Bay Rd (not included) up to Wellington Street (part included from Barrack to William). Also all for William Street in Northbridge from Newcastle street.

Exactly, it makes absolutely no difference.
You can almost guarantee the majority of people complaining about this are the same people who cut in and out of traffic during peak-hour along the freeway, all to get home those few seconds earlier or, in some cases, hours later because they caused a crash.

Is this even news worthy? The only time you can ever do over 40kays per hour in that part of town is when the city is dead with no pedestrians available to be ran over...

They're better off introducing digital speed signs like in Mt. Lawley. Adjust speed destrictions depending on time. Also a much better ideal completely blocking off the streets crossing through the centre of Northbridge on Friday and Saturday night. Even 40 through there can be completely dangerous when you got people swaying around in their own little world.

I like it, will be 20% less crazy when i ride my bike through there next time.
I don't know, the only time you go over 40 is when the city is empty, therefore it's pretty unnecessary.

In all seriousness this would have been the decent thing to do, 40 during peak times, 60 after hours along the main drags like St GT. Slightly complaining as it sets a dumb example for speed limits in sometimes more busy areas, but not really as I never drive through it. If I need to go I take a life gamble and catch the armadale/thornlie line train in

The Today Tonight AL trolls are not going to approve of the reaction in this thread.
I don't see the point of driving through the city anyway?
The only traffic there should be buses and taxis.

Was hoping they'd include kings park road downhill into St Georges...
Top speed runs on the drift trike smokey nagata spec, would be worthy of a chortle or two

Going up that hill towards Kings Park Road is hardcore. I had a thrashed as fuck hire Getz when getting the MPS serviced. Foot to the floor and I was barely managing 50km/h!
