Harrops are bullshit expensive. Try finding some 996 Porsche Carerra Cup brakes they are the same size as the Harrop monster kit and they are actually cheaper if you get them 2nd hand.

http://holmart.com.au/online/prod423.htmhe doesnt want to spend $5K so with freight they wont be far off.
plus being VE the discs have different stud holes and from what i am aware different mounting for the calipers.....but i may be wrong.
funny how people will spend thousands on cars yet $5K is too much for brakes...

Don't be a cheapskate & take the China route with something as critical as brakes Mark!
AP Kit for $4200 that Bart posted is killer for the coin.

Have you looked into those ones that Dus sells on ls1?
They sound like similar specs to the above

There was a bloke in Perth with a VE ute running Porsche brakes. (I think he's on here) The Porsche brakes are Brembos from memory so finding the other odd's & sods shouldn't be hard. I'm did consider them for my car as well but opted for the Harrops myself.

They made AP's for pre VE. Pretty sure the vz r8 came out with ap's
VE brakes are completely different the discs are thicker, the hubs are smaller and the brakes mount on the other side of the disc. If it was a ve you would just buy the camaro ones off the net in the US for fuckall

Did you end up sorting this out Dave? I remember you were looking at it on ls1. This is where I based my previous comment about the discs being different from.

interestingly enough my new calipers arrived today from the us. i ended up buying 6piston brembo monobloc calipers for the front, and got a set of 4 piston ferrari 360 rear brembos (similar to fpv). fronts were 1.2k including .2k postage and rears were 1k. rotors should bring the total up a bit, but im just saying you can get better brakes for 4k out there. they are all radial mounts so it should make barts job easier when i bring them down to bunbury.
corvette 6 piston caliper fronts are sub $700 from the us (PBR i think caliper)

Just the Pre VE HSV Brakes... PBR i think? $700 is cheap as chips though considering similar go for $1500+ every day on there.

See above.
Try companies like JEGS and Summit if you want pricing on Wilwood gear.

i actually got ripped abit on the postage there, the actual postage cost the pingpingpingping $120 usd, but he charged $200 on ebay. not prepared to argue, not really sure if there's anything i can do about it.
how about looking here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wilwood-6-4-piston-calipers-rotors-lines-pads-mounts-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3a65e418f9QQitemZ25081 7550585QQptZRaceQ5fCarQ5fParts
could probably pay the $1500, tell him to chuck the rotors in the bin, and get the calipers here for another 250 and be laughing, just get the rotors over here...

^^ That's fine as long as you go another set of wilwood rotors.. The wilwood kit I have consists of custom alloy hats so the DBA rotors will line up. For street use, the wilwood rotors are fine. For a track application with a heavy car and aggressive pads, the rotors will not last very long at all.
theres a set of harrops to suit vt-vz in quokka, $2400ono fronts & rears...
