Well , I thought it is about time that I put up a bit of a thread on my 180, as I have been lurking these forums for a while now.

Since back when I was at school dreaming about cars, the 180 was up there on my list of cars to have!
Ive also always had a love for all types of motorsport (like most/all of us on here), and wanted to set up a car to get into drifting and be able to change a few things to enter into time attack events at some stage.

This is now my second 180, the first, was tired and had been around the traps, so I sold that and purchased a R32 gts-t.
This got rear ended by some old duck who wasnt watching the road, and I then decided that I missed my old 180's handling and power(compared to the rb20 anyway), so purchased this Jan 2011...

I have no photos of when I first bought it. But it had:
-shite rims
-nismo skirts, type x rear pods and sr lip and the body was fairly straight and neat.
-some kind of heavy duty clutch
-function coilovers (stiff enough for now, will be replacing later on)
-the sr20det had been replaced with an 86,000km red top and had been fitted with 550's, z32, t28bb, 040, fmic, hks ebc and a power fc.
I was very happy with the feel of the power as a base and that the car as a whole was fairly stock and neat.

First up, I had to get rid of the stock dump pipe and mild steel exhaust with a huge cannon hanging out the back. So I got Kermit Engineering to make us up a full stainless 3 inch cat back with twin 3 inch 'shotguns'.While he was at it, I got him to fab up a stainless air intake pipe and he also fitted a supermade dump pipe and hi flow cat.much better:-)

Since I had the 32 wreck sitting around, I decided to fit the 4 pot front and 2 pot rear brakes and hubs to replace the pissy ass 180sx stockies!
While I was at it I also fitted an r33 handbrake assembly, Nismo 2 way diff, solid subframe bushes, gtr front and rear swaybars and front and rear strut braces.

I entered Collie Drift Assault 4 as my first ever drift event(which was sweet!), so decided to get some drifteks 17 x 9.5 +18 with 25mm bolt ons (cheap alternative to get me some better track), and a bride seat to hold me in.

Since Collie, I have been to most drift pracs at barbs to gain as much experience and track time as possible, and also fitted a cusco half cage.

Future plans are to start entering some time attack events, (watched the antilag one and loved it!), and keep modding the 180 to a level that Im happy with.
Some future mods include:
-all adjustable susp. arms and tie rod ends then re-alignment
-new coilovers
-brake upgrade
-clutch upgrade
-upgrade turbo setup to gtx3076, cams, 6 boost, etc etc
-surge tank setup
-2x red bride zeta's
-tub front of car
-SSR SP1 Professors
-panel the entire car and get all the little dents out that are pissing me off
-re-spray

Thanks for taking the time to read my story so far, I will keep this thread updated, and look forward to meeting fellow antilager's out and about...

Standard body and kit etc, dumped on the floor and choice wheels, thats how you do it...dunno why there are so many failspec 180's out there :/

Look forward to seeing the results with bigger turbo!

pretty hardcore for a daily!

how is it in terms of reliability? (serious question)

and heavy duty clutch on a daily! do you just roll around with your left thigh 2" bigger than your right? (less serious question)

Excellent! Rare example of a pretty bombed S13/180. You join Kimmm in doing it right.

Whoaaa didnt expect so much positive feedback! Cheers lads!
yeah I try and keep it as neat/simple as possible, being my daily and all!

Tocchi, yeah ditto!

TheChad, she's pretty reliable (touch wood), but has had a few minor problems in the past. Although being a s13, isnt too hard to rectify.
and yeah you get use to the clutch when you drive it everyday, its the curbs and potholes/anything over ~30mm high that I have to worry about!

ED40, yeah Krumz mate! Cheers bro

Once again, cheers for the positive feedback guys. Keeps me even more motivated than I already am :-)

This is the sort of look I hope to achieve. I drive daily with a Brass Button Clutch, and use too with a HD Clutch. Definitely good fun in the wet.

Top work mate.

Yeah that was me, drifts been great, trying to get out there as much as possible. It takes a real hammering on the old girl though.I see you got the el up and running again (after a bit of panel damage). Be good to see your el out at the track again, thing is nuts!

Seeing your car reminds me of what made it my obsession to get one when I got my drivers lisence. Maybe thousands of them on the road but as for doing it right only a small handful.
