hey there
well having an issue with the 5.7litre VZ SS ute i just purchased, its auto..has OTR, tune with box shift hardened, usual shit

anyways when u put it into drive it the revs drop to barely fuk all and stalls
same thing happens when u get to a corner after driving.

also if u hold your foot down very slight in neautral just to hold revs up it hunts revs badly.

it drives fine on the gas..

could it be something to do with the electronic throttle body/idle control valve etc? or air leak somewhere? the tune ??

cheers.

Probaly shit tune. Mates 383 did this alot. Do u know who did the work to it?

Did you thoroughly test drive it? Was it doing this when you bought it? Could be a few things really, most of which you have outlined. Process of elimination to work out which it is.

electronic throttlebody = tune related. they dont run a IAC valve like the cable throttlebody.

lol your gonna laugh when i say it

but Formula tech did the work.. i was planning to get a retune at WAperf as i know not to trust FT at all.

will anything show up on diaognostic? incase it is something else?

Formula tech did the work...

There´s your prooooooooooblam. Idle airflow tables are probably all farked up and haven't been adjusted to suit the OTR properly

You may see some codes with a diagnostic tool but wont be able to do much if its tune related.

A TB clean wouldn't hurt but I dont it will sort it now you´ve mentioned the Toona

hmm fuk that ive told the person i brought it off that they have to sort it and have agreed, but i think i might just book it into WA perf and get it tuned there..no point taking it back to the spastics that caused it in the first place. but ill check error codes etc first to make sure its not just something like the throt position sensor or someshit.

just get mitch to retune it.

i wouldnt trust a formula tech tune at all.

fyi, just like there is no iac there is no throttle position sensor. atleast there is no removable one. it's built into the electronics of the throttlebody.

however, just incase check that there isnt any vacuam leaks and that the pcv system is setup correctly. if it's got a vacuam leak then that can throw out the idle transitions.

I havent played too much with the electric 5.7 tunes, mainly cable ls1 and electric ve, generally though there shouldnt be a need to change any settings, atleast on a stock cammed motor.

Fair enough yeh maybe I'll check what comes out on diagnostic. Yeh Mitch will definately be retuning.

Sorry to hear this mate. I'd never buy a car that idiot has touched, you're better of getting rid of it.

don't forget to check that they have drilled a big enough hole in the throttle body butterfly for the idle.

Throttle cracker/ throttle follower settings in the tune combined with a poorly or not at all calibrated VE table will cause this... Also a vaccuum leak. If it's done it since the work was carried out i'd bet money on the tune.

Lol.. My old ss was tuned at street torque before I purchased it and they did this. Although I never had an issue with the car but the tune needed heavy refining.

Just an update.. Went to wa performance to get Mitch to Sus out tune, lovely news.. 17% too lean at idle. So at idle it's been starved of fuel I gather causing it to idle like shit, not to mention alot of other issues that need sorting to going to book it in this week coming. Big ups to Mitch and deb, always a pleasure to deal with. Definately worth the drive to occonor
