Ok it's probably even been covered here already.
But what are some of the regs into building a car for track use only, car would be unlicensed, would have most interior removed bar essentials like dash n shit,no door skins.
What about regards to exhaust n such.
Does it have to have door skins, full exhaust, that sort of stuff.

Would be for track night at wanners and the occasional thing at AHG.

^ I was told my car needed to be rego-d for no limits.

Swapping some number plates onto it for the night did the trick..:)

Needs to be rego'd for a track based event?, odd

Anyway, Brett, figure exactly what you want to do with it, as it will make building the car easier as you won't be trying to cover multiple bases in one car..

But Generally aim for the following sort of base rules
2kg of fire extingusiher, be it one, or two units
battery triangle
tow hook stickers

and if you want to do targa style sprints, add
first aid kit
road side warning reflective triangles $10 from super cheap

now beyond that, depends on what you want to do, if you want to race propper, you'll need a cams approved cage for starters, and then need to comply to whhatever class rules you are in..

Door skins are needed i think, but generally a good thing anyway as if you do stack it, your less likely to hurt yourself if you hit a flat skin, versus the internal bracing of the back of a door.

if you want to be serious about it, spend good money on suspension and brakes before spending bulk on motor mods if you are on a limited budget, power can be had later.

Ok bottom line is this, I bought a VS Commodore for spare parts for VR, got what I needed off it and still pretty much have a full car.
Figured I'd throw a manual in it, decent suspension all round, VT Brake setup, strip interior, few basic mods for a bit more power.
I know its not the best base car but, it cost 300 dollars initial outlay, the motor is good, even if I spend another 2k on it I think it will be a good fun car, it might not be that competitive but I want to at least have some fun.
I'm sure there are way better base cars to start with, but after watching the old V6 commodore series it looked fun with what they had, so why not.

Want to do No limits nights, AHG and maybe a hill climb or two.

Cars do not need to be rego-d for No Limits, car just needs to be in good working condition. I have driven an unlicenced car at No Limits and the organisers and scrutineers had no problems with it at all.

The documents on here pretty much cover most club level events... Make it easy on yourself and go see a workshop that builds race cars for some advice on what to do with your car.
