Varex (http://clixtrac.com/goto/?43705) Technology
VAREX (http://clixtrac.com/goto/?43705) mufflers combine both the design technology of the stock muffler and the performance muffler into one single compact unit. A sophisticated butterfly valve mechanism is implemented to redirect the exhaust gas flow and vary be-tween the two.

For higher sound level, the exhaust flows are directed through the opening path and produces maximum power with a robust sound level (or the “sports car note”) and near-zero resistance. Whilst for lower sound level, the exhaust flows are directed through the chambered path (similar design with the stock muffler), and produces minimum sound level that gives you the best in-car comfort.

Angle of the valve is also controllable, which can be adjusted to stop at any point between sports mode and silence mode. This gives you further freedom to set the optimal sound level according to your desired preference.

VAREX (http://clixtrac.com/goto/?43705) Motor and gear sets are located on the top of the muffler, they work as an integrated unit to drive the butterfly valve open and close.
The dimensions of the motor and gear box are typically manufactured to 4.5cm(H) x 10cm(W) x 20cm(L)

Varex (http://clixtrac.com/goto/?43705)™ can be controlled to suit your personal needs.

Street Mode

Setting your Varex (http://clixtrac.com/goto/?43705) muffler in 'Street mode' enables lower sound levels and maximum discretion, as exhaust gases are directed through a chambered path as would a 'stock' muffler

Race Mode

For greater power output and sound level, exhaust gases are directed through the opening path and produce maximum power with a robust sound level (or the 'sports car' note) and near-zero resistance.

"Anywhere in between"

As the angle of the valve is infinitely adjustable, it can be adjusted to stop at any point between sports mode and silence mode. This gives you further freedom to set the optimal sound level according to your desired preference.

Below is a diagram which shows the basics of the Varex muffler kit:

Also keen for pricing

Seems ideal for keeping neighbours off your case and avoiding undue attention..

Pricing information would be great.

Im sceptical about these. Just checked the site. Does the twin in/twin out muffler have the same noise reduction when closed as the one shown in the promotional diagram?

Does the valve have to sitted up top? Or could i position the muffler with it on the side to therefore fit the oval muffler between my fuel tank and spare wheel?

Will the varex muffler (when open) sound identical to my current setup which is simply a twin in/twin out straght through?

These make a *big* difference in the sound levels on cars that are otherwise quite loud.

If you have a car with a mid muffler thats stock except the rear muffler (I've heard these on Magnas for example).. closed they sound totally stock / very quiet.. open it has a deep low note.. not super loud but its maybe half as loud as not having a muffler there.

Another friend who has a car with 2 of these, when open, you can hear the car from blocks away, not joking.. with it closed its just loud-ish.

Would recommend listening to one for yourself but the difference is large. The MCM video has a sound comparison - and youtube has plenty too.

Tocchi - There's a group buy going on for these on supraforums, I'm sure you could contact them and get a one off. Group buy link (http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/group-buys-special-offers-discounts/69142-varex-mufflers-gb-~%24360-delivered-aust-wide.html)

TJ - They can be had for $360 delivered via the groupbuy. So probably $400 normally? Xspeed has had them in stock a few times so a call to Hanson would confirm.

Also - They need to make a 4" cannon style dammit! Not keen on full exhaust re-work!

Have they revised the design/construction so the motor that controls the valve doesn't fuck out after not very long at all ??

Not sure if dumb question, but could one of these be rigged to work as a kind of kick down solenoid, eg: sudden increase in RPM and it opens for more flow, noise etc??

Or is that incorporated in the VK05 model kit??

Yeah thats the VK05 thing

wonder how they go on rotas.. seeing that they produce much more exhaust heat..

Got one of these. Best thing ever. Will definitely get it on future cars.

Closed\muffeled mode is like having stock exhaust. No sounds\drone whatsoever. Warming\cooling of car at odd hours doesn't wake anyone up. Performance obviously goes down but a simple wireless remote opens up muffler and you get full straight-thru performance and sound. WIN\WIN

can these be put as a mid muffler as I have a blitz Nur spec exhaust and kinda like my muffler but the mid muffler has seen better days

There is a thread on AR on these, works great but it is louder than a regular muffler when fully open. There are a few peri ports with these on them. Pretty much makes it well streetable.

was talking to Dom (Prestige) last week, maybe earlier this week, cant remember, anyways, Xforce have none and need to make more of them, so they will be 1 month away, then add a few weeks for delivery etc.

luckily they have the VMK2G-350 (3.5" in, 4.5" tip) in stock, so that's a week away from being in my hands :)

Mate of mine has one installed on a V8 Supra, could ask for some pics/opinions
He's running an Adaptronic ECU i beleive has it connected so it will automatically open the muffler at a certain rpm/throttle position

This is interesting, mine generates a shit load of heat! But if it was positioned and the very back of the car it should be fine??
