Dads Vietnam Slides - Digitisation Project

First of all...Anzac Day, lest we forget!

i thought today would be an ideal day to share these. My old man served in Vietnam and whilst there managed to take 6 reels of slides. We are currently in the process of helping him digitise these slides for preservation purposes and ideally i would like him to annotate each one with the history behind it...its going to take some time!

Here are some of the pics below. If any of you photo shop post production wizards could help me clean up one or two of these i would be forever gratefull. I was thinking the last one of him in the scrub would make a nice pic to have framed for the family...if anyone would like to have a crack please PM me your email address and i will send through a couple for you to play with...depending on the outcome there could be beer or wine for your efforts :)

thanks to you for the recognition...not a bad effort for an Anglo Indian migrant...I think he should go give talks at the detention centres!

& thanks to you all for the encouragement...its a prick of a thing to undertake as its a little time consuming and some of the images stir emotions in him, ill be sure to show him the thread!

as for more pics, il have a look through them and see what else might be of interest....believe it or not there is the 'antilag obligatory tit pics' too (albeit late 60's disgusting muff)...it would seem it wasn't all just patrolling for the enemy over there :)

Failing that, is he still good with a rifle? :) But seriously, kudos as it is due, I couldn't imagine going to war especially for what was essentially someone else's war. Just seeing how thin and bony some of them blokes were just shows us how tough it must've been to keep up the strength to keep going. I guess making it home alive is a good motivator.

Might I suggest that once they (hopefully) have been digitised and have the story behind them, that they are also shared with the RSL, ADFA, ADF Museum etc etc.

I take my hat off to your old man. My dad was also in the Viet war as a doctor, and some of the shit he lets out every blue moon is not pretty at all. So I whole heartedly appreciate any man/women of war

Thanks for posting them mate. They are fantastic pics and appear too have survived pretty well. Big job to digitize them but it will be well worth it, so the stories can be passed onto future generations.
