Car currently has a yellow and is unrego'd. Also has a blown manifold - china spec.
Here's a pic of when i dropped it off at Oz's shop.
http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/6699/siamakcar.jpg (http://img135.imageshack.us/i/siamakcar.jpg/)
Oz pulled off the Greddy Turbo and put a stock manifold and t28 on for me for pits.
After a wash and some fresh fuel.
http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/4572/siamakcar1.jpg (http://img546.imageshack.us/i/siamakcar1.jpg/)
Might as well plug my mechanic (Oz).
He knows S series cars and skylines very very well. Does all work from basic servicing, clutch changes to full forged motors, very reasonably priced and genuinely cares - 0401 564 822.
Plans:
Get it rego'd
740cc's
reconsider turbo options, looking for something with very good top end
considering a cage

Why did the Greddy turbo have to come off to go over the pits?!?
I'm assuming you took it for a drive with stock turbo ? How did the old girl go ?
Even with the stale fuel in the tank she drove really well! No miss or anything.
Why did the Greddy turbo have to come off to go over the pits?!?
The s/s manifold that was on there was cracked (external gate provision had actually completely snapped off lol), only thing holding the gate onto the car was the vac line.
The Greddy turbo was originally an internally gated turbo so the wastegate flap was welded shut too, all of this could have been repaired but its far more easier to just bolt a t28 on with a stock manifold rather than convert it back to internal gate and hope the inspectors don't pick up on "modified turbocharger".
Besides, i dont think he wants to put that turbo back on anyway as hes still unsure on what turbo setup to go for. Suggestions? :)

Im tossing up whether or not to keep the 518z or move up to a td-06.
I want to hit around the 270kw+ mark. I've been trolling around to find results with out great success.

have a look here for some limited info on bracing types. (http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=391282)
brace it from the rear or centre first....180sx chassis twists in the rear most.
do-luck floor brace is awesome and you can really feel the difference, but that is my opinion running in my car, there are mixed views.
then brace the LH chassis rail with a uras chassis bar.
http://www.sillbeer.com/images/underneath/rear-end.jpg
should stiffen the crap out of it, if you're suspension is stiff enough to feel the difference that is. what are the springs you are running?

Ok, I guess those smoked taillights do look good. Just I love Type X Rears..and it's not my car soo keep em :D

I havent checked the spring rates yet, ill take a look well i pull the HKS coilovers off for stockies for the pits.
I've had a look at the complete driftworks suspension range, doesn't seem too exxy and could be worth-while? As long as I take to a proper suspension joint for fine tuning > WA suspensions?

Looking at 850cc sard injectors, new DJ. The yen is damn good atm.
Still trying to find comparisons between

Trust TD06
Garret GT/X3076R
Precision 5556
Like I said im chasing 270kw mark, nice top end, not super laggy. Ill also consider changing cams if need be.

/\ /\ This guy retarded?
Anyway, I was busy with uni but have been working on it now in my break.
Changed my tie rod ends cause the standard ones were leaking.
Scariest drive to the tyre shop in the rain, car was all over the road until i got the alignment.
http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/8494/imagejuv.jpg
A few things to do before i can pass pits on friday, have to get some stock s14/15 rims or a new pair of tyres, change the steering wheel to one with a horn and detail the engine bay a bit so i get hassled less.
After I pass I'm going to change the dash over to an uncracked one, put a new deck in, put the old rims back on, redump the car, put the aftermarket camber arms back on and put some type x gear from Mayhem. Also going to cancel this bov, have no idea how to get it off though.

Should be 3 allen head grub screws around the base. Undo, remove BOV and take intercooler pipe to fab shop to cut the pipe off and weld hole up. Or just put some random object in the end of the pipe like most do
disc0-dan
28-06-2011, 08:33 PM
Bov is plumbed back from memory, you want a whistle do ya ?
siamak
28-06-2011, 08:44 PM
I checked the hose, didn't lead to anywhere.
There was 2 10mm nuts around the base, haven't found a third. The thread extrudes through the BOV. Pretty weird.
I'll probably go to clark rubber to find a cover.

A bit more progress today.
Westy sorted me out with two second hand 16"s with decent tread to replace my worn stocky rears for the pits.
Also went and gave the engine bay and the wheel arches a quick detail.
Spent a while trying to get the boss kit off but couldnt do it, even with a steering wheel removal tool, the horn isn't working either and neither is the central locking from the outside. Air con blows air but not cold. I need to work out how to reverse the drift handbrake to standard function aswell as get the indicators to cancel when turning.

goodie
29-06-2011, 05:09 PM
If its got a drift button, just pull the button off, remove the handbrake cover, and bend the two pins on the handbrake back into the spring.
Indicators to cancel, would most probably be the boss kit itself.
Horn could be a few things, make sure its grounded properly, wires are connected in the first place and properly.
A/C blowing cool air, probably just needs a regas, but could be something else.
Good luck at the pits :)
siamak
30-06-2011, 05:39 PM
Sorted out the handbrake.
Also went and picked up a excellent condition type x steering wheel, problem is the 'cock spring?' that came with it doesnt cancel my indicators. I'm going to have to borrow a type x indicator for pits tomorrow.

FML. I had 3 inspectors looking over and under my car. Worst shit ever.
They did a dodgy with the exhuast noise, revved my car for a good 5 minutes. 92DB :(
Front bumper is secure, not sure where ill grab the splash guards.
I sorted out the seats and the pod securing (bolt wasnt all the way in). The turbo oil return line is the fucking catch can line, i guess ill put a clamp on that shit.
Its going to have to wait till I go over again, no time now.
Not sure whether to get a silencer for the exhuast or slot in a piece of metal flange that restricts the exhuast near the cat.

What i did when i took my car over the pits to fix the exhaust noise, a mate of mine got some real thin sheet metal, like 1-2mm cut it to the shape of the cat flange, and drilled several holes 10mm holes in it. Worked perfectly and you could hardly hear the car at all. Simple but effective
siamak

The flange thing didnt work out for me, wasted a few hours in line and the guy did a quite measurement and apparently it came up to 110db!

Everywhere in perth I went to didnt have a 4" silencer, and the silencer i got from a forum member here turned out to be 4 1/4". So I went had got a silencer fabricated and passed!
The guy at the re-inspection tried to ping me for something else, he said my bumper support had been cut and I said fuck off, its not on the list.
So stoked to have it on the road, its fucking loud.

So finally bolted everything back together today.
Fired it up and sounded great. BUT FML - Lost about a litre of oil.
The oil feed line off the block had a major leak.
Took it all off again, and I confirmed that the bolt on there wasn't a standard Nissan one.
The block is cross threaded and even with the standard Nissan bolt I went and got from KYP and using a bit of teflon tape the cross-threading defeated me.
