Hey fella's, the MR2 finally sold and it was the easiest and quickest sale ever! Had no calls for like months and bloke came to see it on a Sunday a couple weeks ago, took him for a spin... he did not drive, got back to mine, he shot me an offer just a bit lower than my asking and I took it. Signed some form to release a bank cheque, and Tuesday after lunch it was gone. That week I sold it I got 5-6 calls enquiring about the MR2. Weird shit!

So here the next thing I got.
1989 Kawasaki ZXR250 A(ZX-2R)- a proper baby ninja... not like the current posers.
It's done 55,000kms and has a full service history since it was imported to VIC in 2008 by Mr Pak with 31,879kms on the odometer. Somehow it finally made its way to WA in 2009.

So here it is,

Year (of specifications) 1989 - 1999
Engine 249 cc, 4 stroke, 4 cylinder
Transmission 6-speed, chain
Max speed 127 mph
0-60 mph 3.8 seconds (i highly doubt it, maybe for a pro rider, but for the average bloke i'de say 5s?)
Horsepower 45 bhp @ 15,000 rpm
Max Torque 24.5 Nm @ 11500 rpm
Redline 19,000 rpm
Weight 141 kg / 311 lbs

sounds fucking AWESOME, reminds me of f1 , it just screams like a crazy banshee. But its just a bike to get me along till i get my R license. Then it will be onto the 600's! Will decide later!

So first thing to do is change my bulbs so people can actually see me.
H4 Hi-Lo Bixenon HID kit with slim ballasts, and some fuck-off bright LED brake lights and indicators. Yeah, you might not appreciate the brightness, but trust me, I appreciate it especially when blind fucks pull out in front of you ALL the time(ask any rider). I've been trying to look for decent LED/SMD bulbs online but haven't really found something I trust to be actually brighter than the incandescents. Any worthy LED bulbs worth looking at apart from CREE?

Oh, is there any motorbike carby tuners here? was keen on having this carby cleaned and tuned!

Will give her a good clean and polish and take some better pics!

congrats on the purchase, i saw this one on gumtree but i bought my ZX2R about 2 months before it came up so i paid more for one that is comestically worse.
ive taken mine on a 560km ride (thrashing it trying to not to fall too far behind litre bikes) and it had no issues at all, amazing how reliable these things can be especially when they have been thrashed their whole lives.

Take it to Ktec they can service and balance the carbies for you. Unless u know what ur doing dont try it urself, getting for 4 carbies in sync can be a bit of a prick.

While ur at it get ur fork oil changed altho this is easy to do urself, most likely it still has the same oil in there as when it left the factory, changing the oil in my old baby blade and raising the forks 5mm in the triple trees made a huge diffrence to the handling.

I would give Neil Anderson ( proflow)a call absolute legend and knows alot about ninjas ( seeing as he races and holds a record with his zx10) and carbys I took my 99 r6 there when I had that and he was the only person to touch my r1

Cheers for all the nice words guys!

Currently the forks seem pretty good according to my mate, but will change them when I get the chance, or when I figure out how to do em.

Already joined PSB :D

Will give Ktec and proflow a call. What's the damage on a carby clean and tune these days?

Just ordered my HID's and some fuckoff bright CREE LED 5W brake bulbs. Will update once i get them to compare with normal bulbs. Lets hope they dont disappoint, since they cost me 43 bucks for a pair!

Out of interest where did you get the HID's from? Let me know how it goes with wiring them up and the brake bulbs too.. should be a nice improvement!

ha these are still around !! there was a massive craze on these and cbr250 r and RR ( baby blades ) around the mid-late 90's , i remember motorcycle city in vic park had 30-40 odd to choose from . i bought a cbr250 , but only had it for a while .. yea they sound good and rev to the moon , but when you see how slow they actually are for the rpms they are doing , its kinda funny . (esp when ya on a big bike )

nice find thou , they would all have heaps of kms on them by now , even when i bought mine back in 1997 it had 38,000 kms , and about the lowest was 6000 kms , so 14 yrs later if its only got 55,000 kms it been in the shed alot !

be careful , the rains are coming !

Got the HID's from eBay, as well as the bulbs. Will post up once i get them install them! i don't expect any problems tho.

yeah, they are quick for a 250cc, bar a 2 stroke. But the sound! you will not get that sound from any bikes made in the future...

definitely will be jumping on the 600's once my year is up :D

So uh, my HID's arrived. Installed them no dramas but then ran into problems. Looks like the HID's are drawing more power than the the normal bulbs causing the battery to go FLAT even when motor was running. The small little battery aint got enough juice and its more powerful than the stock one. FAIL.

what wattage are the factory bulbs?
generally, HID's use less.
