Since we've been broken into at our Hay street office about 3 times in the last few years we ended up installing some security cameras (motion sensor ones).

This morning we came in to find that the fire escape door had been broken down yet again and as it turns out we were broken into again.

The thing is this person seemed to know his way around our office quite well as he went straight for the petty cash. Unlucky for him there wasn't a lot of money in there when theres a few iPads and other misc electronic goods etc lying around the office which would have been worth a lot more.

Anyone recognize this person? :)

3 times in the past week there has been a crew of native australians run into the bottleshop at my work sprint to the back, grab all they can and run out. the same 7 "ladies" 3 times in a row... not really too much we can do tbh.

as 100% always, fuck the grange, fuck the dom, fuck all of the quality burbons, they will run straight to the back corner for the jacks and jim.

If auto doors lock them and watch them run into them. Many LOLS to be had

certainly do, but in reality 10 bottles of burbon is still cheaper than the damage the savages would do if locked inside the store.

Think he means they run into the doors on the way in expecting them to open? Good idea!

If they were better there wouldn't be anyone to take advantage of Centrelink.

Turn security cameras off (technical problem) mess them up claim self defense.

The problem with increasing the quality is more to do with having a capture card capable of recording all that extra data on multiple channels. Plus, low light conditions require a fast lense and decent sensor = expensive.

Have dealt with Mobotix IP cams, they're awesome, you can even hook up a microphone and speak through them, not cheap though.

It's a product I came across from the US used for stealth hunting on animals however they also have a security version as well. The camera is triggered with a motion sensor and takes either a single shot, burst or camera. Unit retails start from $160US - $999US. Not as advanced as Mobotix but for the money you can't complain!

We have some decent cameras at work. Some fucking terrible ones also. If it's being recorded locally and not streamed to a central station there's no reason you can't get high quality, and it won't take much space. They are triggered via motion or sound so not recording 24/7, unless you want them to.

A good way of breaking them out of their group, is pulling them up before they get into the store and denying anyone without photo ID.

It looks like he is carrying a gym towel not a jumper? Are there any gyms nearby your work?.... maybe sign up and jump on the treadmill there every morning and see if you recognise the guy?

Mobotix are a great system, problem is they're completely proprietary (sp?). You have to make your whole CCTV system mobotix, gets very expensive and means you can't use any other types of camera. most places don't want that sort of limitation.

DVTel, Pelco, and Panasonic all do good cameras. pretty much industry standards.
Sony have some really good gear, but it's a bit more pricey.

Really you just want a system with a decent analytics package on the server/head end. Video motion detection, didgital trip wires, or hooking it up to the security system to record in case of an alarm all work pretty well.

alternatively you could just record at 25fps all the time and just overwrite the old data on the server every 48hrs or so.
