DETAILS

- From about 8:30pm onwards

Eligible cars
> The usual one make stuff from the 'Recommended' arcade car list.
> Some racing with Japanese GT500 cars 630PP* or less and Racing Soft tyres.
- If you don't have a GT500 car in your garage you can choose the Calsonic Nissan GT-R or Castrol Toyota Supra from the arcade list

* You can de-tune your car for online racing by adjusting the Power 'slider' control if your car creeps over 630PP.

> Various Tracks (inc some random generated tracks)
> Driving aids allowed except skid recovery

Driving Standards

Some drivers are obviously faster than others but we're all racing for fun so boost is turned on to keep the pack together.

> Give each other racing room. No other pushing or ramming other cars off the tarmac.
> If you accidentally push or hit a competitor off the track, slow and let them re-pass you to address the situation (apologising via your headset will also help).
> If you deliberately push or hit a competitor off the track, or shortcut any track, turn off your PS3 and sit in a dark room by yourself contemplating what a weak pingpingpingping you are.

CONNECTION ISSUES

If you have had problems racing online previously then I'd strongly suggest configuring your PS3 network and router settings. Even if you're connection is for the most part stable, it's still a good idea to apply these measures. They will improve network stability for all your PS3 online games.

Step 1 : Turn off/disable other devices using network bandwidth.
Running your torrent downloads on your PC in the background is not helping.

Step 2 : Set your PS3 to a static IP address using the following step-by-step guide (you may want to leave UPnP enabled though).
http://portforward.com/networking/staticip-ps3-playstation-3.htm

Step 3 : Configure your router to forward the appropriate ports to the PS3 static IP address.
- Select your router from the list on this page...
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm
- 'Click here to skip this advertisement...' in the top right hand corner of the screen.
- Select 'PlayStation Network' from the list
- Follow the on screen instructions to configure your router

Once you've applied the settings to your router perform an internet connection test from the PS3 Network Settings menu. If you've done everything correctly your Nat Type will be Type 2 - which is good. If you're getting 'Type 3' then go back and make sure you've configured your PS3 and router as per the guides.

OTHER FIXES

If you are still having issues you can Clear GT5's network cache.

Sounds good, will hopefully have more luck connecting this week!

Will be in again for this, hopefully a bit less ramming this week.

I don't think we actually did a GT500 race last week where we could take our own cars (possibly after 12, but I left then).

I wouldn't mind seeing a few PP races.
Most of the time it's a one-make race, which isn't so bad, but a few times through the night it'd be nice to be able to go "600 (or whatever) max PP" and be able to get out your nicely done-up car you've sent some coin on and time tweaking.
Looking forward to it in any case!

I'd probably have to check the PP levels of the arcade car list first. We should set the PP at a point where there's a few competitive cars in the Arcade list that have the same sort of PP. That way people who perhaps don't have a car close to the required PP level aren't left out.

The biggest pain is the tyres. I've personally got loads of cars in my garage but only a few have Racing Soft rubber and you can't purchase new tyres once you're in an online lobby. So any PP racing needs some prep work.

Agreed.

My camaro didn't stand a chance in the GT500 race with the dodgy tyres I have on it!

Fair enough guys. I hadn't thought about that.

Just saw a GTPlanet update: there is a patch you have to download. Remember that before tonight's race! (2jzlux). It's only 50mb though..

Thanks for the heads up.

Another useless update. Really wish they'd let me pick from my own garage when setting up one-make races online.

I sorries!! Guilty of a few punts there. Tried to let people back through where I did though. I rely on the racing line too much. Following too close = Not seeing braking point = Ramming. Need to play more and learn tracks too.

Cheers

Ditto!

Had a great time, but was definitely guilty of a few punts. All in all though I thought it was great racing. Had a blast :)

Yeah same here. I often follow a racing line and end up braking late either coz I know i can push it that extra meter (and end up in someone's ass who brakes earlier, to my surprise) or I am paying too much attention to the people around me and end up missing the BP and again going into someone's rear.

Epic first race between me and MGR @ Fuji. I need a 'look sideways' button on my G25 as half the time we were side by side... even sometimes through corners. I'll grab some pics and maybe some vid highlights of races over the w/end.

Cheers again guys.

Racing was good last night. There wasn't the usual someone trying to overtake the whole field in 1 or 2 corners from last place. There was still punting going on, but it was only small shit, not seeing someone on the inside and turning in or missing brake points.

The Ring in the Golfs was a pain in the ass as I somehow ended up on comfort softs and traction control on. No wonder I thought the car was a dud.

I need to play more often, first time Ive touched the ps3 since the last time I played, so like 5 weeks.

I tapped a few people here and there, trying too hard. But if I did and it was bad I'd slow up and give the spot back.. which in turn got me whacked a few times :(

Last night's the racing was definitely cleaner and more respectful than previous weeks. There's still some punting but people were at least trying to avoid accidents and most of the hits were relativity gentle.

With the exception of TJ at Autumn Ring turning two corners into one straight a I didn't really see any blatant cut-the-grass-and-punt moves which were becoming way too common. Had a great run with Alex at Fuji where we were side-by-side for much of the race without taking each other out.

Hah ha! Yeah after you carved up three or four cars through the 'bus stop' (including mine) I think I gave you a gentle nudge going down the hill into the hairpin to push you a little wide and drive past underneath.

i had a shitty night

kept discoing, and when i did stay connected it seemed almost every race i would get near the front and then on the last lap get gangbanged and end up last

After the 4th disconnect i gave up... :(

It was overall cleaner racing though, munt has certainly tidied up his act, the nurby race with me, him and Stu was good

oh also, dont get the "new" Sony blutooth headset, it sucks

Cant adjust mic level and its too sensitive so its almost always on, have to mute it

plus its uncomfortable, doesnt fit in my ear

Haha jumping that kerb is worth a second easily. I reckon in real life drivers would do the same

Didnt actually jump it and punt anyone though?

Excellent racing last night, good side by side stuff all around the place.

Suzuka was lol, I gained the lead 3 or 4 out of the 5 laps at the last chicane when everyone outbraked themselves, usually it's the other way around and I'm outbraking myself there..

Also first race at Suzuka, I'd been racing a 32 GT-R road car online the night before, and used to the understeer and hitting the power really early in a corner.... Did it first corner at Fuji, forgot the GT500 R34 is RWD...and went spinning, derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp

The 'old' one is the same, even with only connecting by bluetooth (so you don't get HQ mode, or any on screen display), then you can turn the level down...but it makes sfa difference, this is also why I often have mine on mute, pretty annoying.

I did some reasearch after last week, and came up with the workaround to turn the mic level down..even though it doesn't help. It's interesting, there are people complaining on the net about it being too quiet, and otheres like us where it's way way too sensitive.

With the instructions above for changing to Nat type-2 is it necessary to call your ISP for the primary and secondary DNS or can you simply copy it from the connection list step at the beginning of the guide. As this is what i did and it doesnt seem to have worked.

Sciflyer
10-10-2011, 06:23 AM
DNS should be listed on your ISPs website somewhere

or you can always use the google DNS 8.8.8.8

Still trying to get my NAT type to 2 without luck, setup the ps3 to static ip and forwarded appropriate ports on my router and still nothing. So i thought id check the DHCP server client list for my router and my ps3 is nowhere to be seen. Could this be the problem.

Sciflyer
25-10-2011, 10:32 PM
just put the PS3 in the routers DMZ and forget about having to fuck with ports and shit.

millzy_88
25-10-2011, 11:08 PM
That still doesnt work, new development is that if i set my ps3 to static IP address and dont touch anything on the router i can get UPnP available but still Nat 3. As soon as i start forwarding ports, place the ps3 in the dmz, even turn the routers firewall off the UPnP becomes unavailable and im still Nat 3. Becoming very over this shit now lol.

millzy_88
25-10-2011, 11:15 PM
Scratch that, if you put the PS3 in the DMZ then turn the PS3 on and do a test i get UPnP still but no Nat 2. Why would it not let me have it. Once its in the DMZ it should be open season.
