noob qestion, so ive got two slots in my vaio for ram, is it a standardised physical size and do you think there will be any compatibility problems?? I wont have any fitting problems etc ? My vaio is like 5 yrs old now....

AFAIK physical size should be standard, as far as compatibility, one of 2 things can happen:

1) It will work but at a slower speed (ie. same speed as the older RAM in there)
2) Will not work at all

What model VAIO do you have? Try and do a google and see which RAM it takes. I bought mine June-ish last year.

cool, ill check tonight when i have my laptop infront of me, i think ive got 2x1gb in there atm, still sluggish.
