Been fucking around for a while now getting clips from offroad trips n shit we have done but just trying to find some hint and tips.
mainly offroad with things like were do you stand on a hill to actually be able to tell how steep it is (found lots of videos the stuff just looks tame when u watch it back, or over the top)

Well you can either mount camera to car and that will show how steep it is
Otherwise either at bottom or at top would suffice
windows movie maker lol aquiring vegas atm, its more tips on how to hold a camera im looking for

Get a mate to stand halfway up the hill...hold the camera perfectly horizontally, film the car going up/down.
Generally in-car camera doesnt give you the full perspective because it rocks back and forth with the car, hence making the hill look 'not that steep'. Seeing how far down the car is, and how high up it ends up gives a better idea and having it level also shows the incline/decline far better.

Get a car mount and face it at the guard so you can get some good flex footage, mount it under the car too for some of the same, then mount it low over jumps and rocks for a "dwarfing" perspective.
car mount sounds pretty good, dunno if im keen on putting it under the car though haha i tend not to worry to much about moving rocks with my gearbox so i doubt a cheap HD camera would last very long
how hard are the mounts to move about? attatch?

Mine's dual suction.. It stuck to the back of Shane's 9 second ute on a few hard launches :) Put it under the rear bar to see what the suspension and tyre was up to.
I figured if you were going to be bashing over stuff that it might come loose or break something but if you can stick it up in the bumper area just hanging below then this portion of the car is less likely to see contact from a tall object. Putting it under the middle section of the car makes it more susceptible to being smashed to bits.
Then I guess shoot in 60fps if you can so you can speed up and slow down certain highlights on the reel.
yeah i found it was only recording in 30fps, so when i slowed it down the frame rate went to shit, didnt think to put it in 60.. pretty sure the quality drops though.
btw, vegas is fucking complicated lol

60fps on a new camera will usually only drop it to 640x480 anyway, and if you are going to render compress the video and upload it you'll probably stick with 640x480 because it takes forever to upload HD.

im just gonna stick with the new windows movies maker, so easy to cut up files etc
threw this together out of the footage i wont be using (on account of it being shit lol) in about 20 minutes

Shooting from a low angle nice and close to the car with a wide-ish lens will give a more "impressive" sense of speed as the car passes the camera.
To emphasize the height of something either shoot from low, looking up or above looking down.
getting this angle all the time would be fucking sweet
