how are you doing the antilag/launch control? static ignition retard + fuel enrichment? or full bypass valve throttle antilag? i didnt know there were many serious coders working on the ford pcm's

Hardly a serious coder, I've just been playing around with the different RPM limiters and cam/Ign timing and the RPM limit fuel table hysteris, too Bring the boost Up when its on the launch limiter. Basically using the fuel cut too set the rpm, but with the Rpm limit fuel hysteris fattened right up so the mixture doesnt get so lean that it hurts torque as you come off the limiter.
This mean I have the throttle blade fully open and obviously retarded cam and ign timing,Rpm limited too preset value and the turbo spools and away you go
I use the Neutral Exit speed too turn it off.
This allows me too dump it for a nice burnout or feather the clutch out for launches on boost.
There are a few little wiring adjustments that need too be made too trick the PCM into what your
Antilag is proving harder too get right as I use a similar strategy too the launch limit but obviously once I exceed my exit speed my limiter is turned off.
I've been able too get it too work well above 3k with a higher exit speed but this is making a clean launch harder as it allows more wheel speed differential front to rear before it pulls the RPM back.
With it set up this way engaging the clutch pulls the limiter back on(normally set @ 3.5k)so you just hold the throttle flat, kick the clutch and it hops on the neutral limiter and keeps boost up until the clutch is released.
I supposed its not true antilag but it keeps boost up on gear changes so that good enough for me :)
I'l probably scrape the Antilag and just set up some over boost functions on the Eboost and In the PCM so i can either boost spike it on Gear change too keep the boost up or Just flat shift it if im running it down the 1/4

tricky man yeah same setup i've got on the aftermarket ecu. i didnt know if people had started disassembling the roms and writing code in like the evo's.
can you run an ignition cut to prevent lean out? rather than soft fuel cut?
i wish the whole flashtuner tools would go opensource. some crazy dev to be had
-Luke-
23-03-2011, 06:45 PM
We havent starting writing codes. I wouldn't know where too start :) The capabilites of the Factory PCM is amazing. Ba's are good BF's and better and FG's are just plain bullshit in what they can do.
I would like too go ign cut but a cannot find away too tune within the paramters I have too bring on the IGN cut Befoe the Fuel as this is how ford have written the startegy in the pcm. they use fuel, then spark and finally they close the throttle. The electronic throttle is also used too limit torque in the factory tune but i have turned the bulk of this off in my tunes. The software I used is a touch limited in functions compared too the more popular SCT software but its cheaper and more accessable

ha good old drive by wire. what a fail. i ended up converting back to manual tb to save the headfuk. so are you guys just changing parameters or actually reading the whole rom file from the ecu then rewriting it?
i'd planned to have a mates ba flashtuned with a serial ram hidden monitoring the can and k-lines to see what the initilization calls are so opensource hardware could be developed for it. once you can read the rom and write it back to the pcm the possibilities are endless.

We are reading entire calibration (normally aournd 2.5mb) and then making changes and then rewriting entire cal, within the parameters the software writers set.
IE Ba factory spark v load table goes to 1.4, obviously not much good for cars running over 6lbs of boost, I requested the change and my tables where recently changed too 2.6 more then enough for my application
My Software allows me too read any Ba/F Fg I just cannot change/save the tuned without licensing. Will your plan too intercept the process only work on a write or a read as well?
Pm me an email address if you like and i will send you some sample tunes in HPT format, you may/may not be able too pick them apart
daedalusjc
23-03-2011, 07:21 PM
pm sent.
the whole process would mean no licenses or expensive software etc. all opensource tools and access to the full rom. It's cheating a bit but it would read the first few bytes that actually put the pcm in a state to read or write. For example to access an evo you send 0001 with a low state which puts the ecu in programming state

Thanks mate. Im all about diy'ing. Mostly because I love too work on my cars and also because just about everytime I pay somebody too carry out work on them im never happy and redo it:) (oh and im a tight fisted Jew)
The turbo is surprisingly linear in its power delivery. It delivers power similar too a V8, but there just always seems too me bulk torque avaliable.
the sprint from 100kph to 200kph is awesome

no worries man. lets try and get the opensource ecu tuning ball rolling. you can do some crazy shit once youre able to write new code into the ecu. bigger maps, proper antilag through electronic throttle, engine light flashing on knock. heaps of random stuff

Did a bit of work to the blue barge today, Picked up a set of Pedders Coilovers cheap cheap from the local store.
I know most AL'ers wouldnt list pedders too high on there option list but the price I picked them up for was right in the middle of china spec coil over so We'll see how they hold out I spose
Bolted them in today, dropped the front aprox 20mm and the rear 30mm too get the car level with the Hugh Mungus rears m running.
Put 100k's on the and so far very impressed. The damping adjustment is 30 point and the difference between full hard and soft is huge, front adjusters and are easily accessed from the engine bay and fortunately I can reach the rears through my wheels.
The biggest improvements are in straight line grip and braking, the car stays dead straight on the gas and also on the brakes with no diving. Previously is was like dog with worms when accelerating and braking hard the front end was very squirelly and would dart off depending on depressions in the road etc.
Next weekend the diff cradle is coming out of it and its coping a set of Superpros blues all round. My diff mounting bushes are that bad that I can move the diff up and down by hand......
Unfortunately ran out of time too fit up the fuel rail but I think I need too buy a couple of fittings anyway
Anyways a couple of pics.....

Picked up some new stoppers for the old girl yesterday. They should do a Slightly better job of hauling her up than the 322mm vent front and 305 non vented rear discs!
They need a bit or paint resto work but should come up okay. (should I paint the bleed screws?)http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii201/lukehidderley/Brakes002.jpg

Paint them bright yellow, I have a velocity xr6t with 4 pots all round as well, and I've always wondered how it would look bright yellow, or even velocity.
Get the rubber dust caps for the bleeders.

Sorry mate should used the sarcasm font intially when I asked about the bleeders... :)
I plan too paint them in a slighty glossier black than the wheels and find or get made some new decals in Velocity

SKid pics still not loading, so keen to see smoke coming from the front tyres under application of new brakes :)
And not due to clutch slip like that pic of Mat I took, haha.
Good buy on the Brembos man, paint them white with red nipples.
Do u have the upgraded standards? If u do keen to sell?

I´d prefer too keep them for if/when I sell the car
I could swap you plus cash your way for standards haha
Seen this car in the flesh last night, it's like porn haha very impressed with the amount of diy and how good it all looks!! Keep it up!!

Bit of an update as the old girl has gone through some changes this year...
MWA option 4 Cerametallic single clutch has been replaced by a MWA twin 10.5 Organic clutch.
http://www.aceclutch.com.au/hdn_ls1_ls2/thumbs/LS1_Opt5.jpg
I have also removed the remaining factory system (I previously had been running a 4" dump and 5" cat and SMB transition pipe) I have kept the 4" dump, 5" cat and fitted an SMB 4" to 3.5" system
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii201/lukehidderley/20120206_170737.jpg
The Deka 60's and Junk fuel rail where removed and replaced with a modified factory rail and Turbosmart Reg and Gauge and a set of id1000's. Next mod is to convert the stock rail to dual feed and centre return so it can handle e85.
http://i.imgur.com/IDzZG.jpg
Crackcase ventilation system has also been modded to include a catch can for the PCV Circuit and the Engine CC breather. The PCV circuit now has a Speeflow check valve inline to prevent boost pressure from entering the crankcase
http://i.imgur.com/ZnYhB.jpg
I have given up on the factory PCM controlled two step and had been playing with a WOT BOX. It worked well but the engine tended to foul plugs and stumble coming off the limiter due to the tiny plug gaps I was running. I have switched from iridium to copper plugs and fitted a Kenne Bell boost a spark that allows me to run 1.1mmgap. the WOT BOX now works perfectly but a couple of launches on it have resulted in smashed CV's and Diff bushes so I wont be using that anymore!
The old engine (which was pilfered from my old car before I sold it) has been removed. It was built with CP pistons (the uber rattly spec) Atomic 998 rods, Billet pump gears, Niapoo valve springs and a ported cylinder head. It's done the best part of 100k km's and had started to use oil and breath a bit so it was time to change it before it when pop.
Luckily for me a mate had a Spare engine with Malhe powerpack pistons, Atmoic 998 rods, Atomic HD timing chain and tensioner and Niapoo valve springs. I started pulling it out Friday night and got it fired up late yesterday afternoon.

Just got a few little tidy up jobs to do and she'll be a good thing again.
I have also fitted a set of Technico Billet engine mounts. They have transformed the feel of the car, you can no longer feel the drive line moving around in the car. Shifts are alot easier and quick now as the stick isn't wandering around with the driveline movement.

Also forget, have removed the 3566R and fitted a factory 3582r. I preferred the response of the stock turbo for a street driven manual car. I'm seriously considering a GTX3576 and they are able to produce 370/380rwkw on these engines and have fantastic response. I have also removed the modified power steering pump and tank setup that was required for the 3566r and replaced with stock parts
Pics of stock turbo and intake setup. Airbox has also been modified to make filter inspection/cleaning easier

They are fine until you fit sticky tires on them. Wheel spin saves them. A good set of shock and replacing all the factory mounting and control blade bushes stops the rear end moving around underl oad but yes your right they aren't the strongest of rear ends!
