mpeg 3 files to mp3 [Archive]

ok guys
downloaded some music but a heap of it doesn't wanna go into my itunes
basically itunes wont play mpeg layer 3 files
so need to convert them to mp3 files

basically does anyone know of any audio converters?
currently tried 3 different converters and they've all ended up only being video converters
any help would be appreciated
