For those who might be interested, Expat V8 Supercar Driver Marcos Ambrose has Qualified 2nd for the Kobalt Tools 400 in Vegas. Looked like he had pole wrapped up but was pipped at the post by final qualifier Matt Kenseth.
Hopefully the move from JTG Daugherty Racing/Michael Waltrip Racing (Toyota) to Richard Petty Motorsports (Ford) will see Marcos advance in the rankings this season.

Pastrana is signed up for 7 races for Pastrana-Waltrip Racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series which is the "minor league". Marcos races in the NASCAR Sprintcup series, the "Major League".

This is a significant change for this season. Most of Ambrose's last season oval qualifying saw him starting mid-pack at best. Of course this result could be a one off but looks encouraging so far.

That was a great move, or be it a little reckless by Harvick to slightly push Johnson on the last straight. The few extra kph Johnson gained from the tap caused his car to become unsettled entering the final corner allowing Harvick to pass.

After getting as high as 11th place Ambrose was intentionally punted into the wall on lap 125 by one time driver Michael McDowell. McDowell was not happy with the aggressive move Marcos made to rejoin the queue of cars in the inside lane. McDowell's radioed to his team after the punt "I'm not going to take it man." "I've got one race a year and I'm going to make it count.". I know there's some big egos in Motor racing but NASCAR has some of the biggest.

Replay show Edwards didnt touch Logano but it was freaking close! The CWC restarts always end in a mess. The cars get that low on fuel they have too keep ducking down off the bank too keep the pumps primed, there tires cool off and get loose.

Makes for an exciting finish for the fans but the crashes and damage bills must give the owners the shits!

Raikkonen is aiming for a drive in the Sprint Cup Series on the 26th of June at Sonoma, California which is the first of the road/street tracks this season. If Kimi gets a drive at Sonoma he should do ok seeing its not an oval track.

Yeah this is one of the longest races on the calender and there was a lot of long-winded restarts.

Busch lost it twice, first he went lawn mowing on the infield, second time he wasn't so lucky and hit the wall.

Also got to feel for Johnson who was looking good for a top 5 finish with 5 laps to go until his motor blew. Let out "You've got to be Fu*&%# Kidding Me" over the team radio for all the world to hear. The commentators promptly apologizing to the viewing audience for the language.

Looks like a transition spacer underneath it, probably a spec piece to prevent transition monkey-business and cost of developing same. Maintains single plenum manifold, probably no different from currently used

Eight, count 'em, eight electronic port injectors... probably mandated vertical, probably a mandated Y and Z (cross-car and vertical) distance from transition spacer mounting plane.

Eight, count 'em, eight ignition coils. NASCAR currently mandates a single coil and a mechanical distributor. Could've saved a lot of trouble for all the manufacturers if they'd allowed coil-per-cylinder a few years ago when everyone was designing clean-sheet engines, but everyone was doing it in different years.

These small tracks create bumper car like racing, was hard to find one car that didn't have some kind of battle scar by the end of the race.
As mentioned earlier, Ambrose & Montoya had a coming together which sent Ambrose into the wall. Team managed to get the car back on track to finish 29th.

WTF happened to Ambrose? was watching and went as high as 2nd then dropped back to 3rd, then 4th. had to go to work and missed the rest.
The decision to change only two tyres on a yellow pit stop with 59 laps to go proved detrimental to the cars handling. On the restart Ambrose went from 4th to 17th in about 5 laps and ended up a lap down.
On the last pit stop the team changed all four tyres and Ambrose worked his way back to finish 11th without the help of cautions.
Was a shame the two tyre change didn't work out because the car defiantly had the pace to finish on the podium.

Ambrose couldn't quite reproduce the pace of yesterdays qualifying. Overnight rain changed the track condition which caused issues with the cars setup.

Looks like its down to a two horse race for the Cup between Carl Edwards(2359 pts) & Tony Stewart(2356 pts) with only 3 points separating them.

He had pace early in the race but i reckon 100laps with no caution would of hurt , Stewart took fuel only with 25laps to go to try and keep position . Last race will be good to watch .

The move by Ambrose to Richard Petty Motorsport this season has shown what can be achieved. The lack of consistency (and luck) has held Ambrose back from a higher standing this year.
With another year of oval work under his belt and first full season with Richard Petty Motorsport we should see a more successful 2012 and hopefully a spot in the Chase for the Cup.

I'm going to sit on the fence with this one. This being the third closet championship battle going into a final race in NASCAR history I just want to see a decent contest. Hopefully neither driver are taken out so they can battle it out right down to the final lap.

I'm going for Cousin Carl, big fan. He won when I was at Bristol in 2008, but just missed out on the championship that year, he would have won under the old non-chase system then too, the only driver to get close to Jimmy until now.

The move by Stewart to get front position on the final restart with 35 to go gave him the gap he needed to keep Edwards at bay. Edwards started to close the gap and got within a second but ran out of laps.
Both drivers tied on 2403 points for the season with the title decider going to Stewart for most race wins during the season.
