Hey gang,

Got a yellow sticker last night due to lack of tread on all four corners...

Would LOVE to borrow, a set of wheels that would fit just so I can get over the pits on Tuesday/Wednesday! I'm not sure of the offset or brake size seeing as the car is sitting in Claremont, however the tires are 275/45/R20 and are of a 5 stud pattern.

ANY help would be fabulous, because at this stage spending $900 a corner is not an option!

Thanks in advance,
Josh

FARK.... What model have you got for it to be running 20's?

I have a set of stockies off my E34 you can borrow...

The ones on front in the pic... Have the centre caps to tardy it up a bit also...

PCD will be 5x120 so commodore wheels will fit, should make it a little easier.

All my wheels are bald so I can't help mate.

If you have a E66 750i 7 Series then you can run 18" rims as that is what they had as standard the 19's and 20's were optional. 18' rims should be a bit easier to track down.

Hope it helps

Ask if the pits will let you over the pits running V rated as opposed to the W or Y that would have been specified from factory/come on the car originally.

I have 3x 275/45R20 but they are Kumho KL12 (4wd tyre but not overly aggressive, 300C have been known to run them), As New $100 each, but will only suit taking over the pits due to Vibration issues. Have no idea how bad at the moment, but can fit them up, take the car for a spin and if you aren't happy, will pull them off and re fit your tyres at no cost to you. Otherwise $100 each for them. I also have a pair of 265/45R20 in the same brand/pattern, if you can run staggered sizing (if they aren't undersized), they will be $90 each, nearly new.

PM if keen to discuss further.

Aaron

Offset is the issue... Pretty sure the E65 runs +24....

Hi guys,

Thanks very much for all the info and help offered! It's been a busy couple of past days getting this ready but it's nearly finished. I managed to borrow some E60 M5 wheels to get over the pits and luckily for those I passed. However it turns out a small oil leak, front brake pads and no Angel Eyes aka park lights meant that it did not pass :(

SO... Over the past two days it's gotten the oil leak fixed, I swapped back to the 750i wheels which will be re-rubbered today. New pads go in today and Barbagallo is going to spend all day on the headlights because it's uncertain whether there's a wiring/fuse problem or if new headlights are needed (non warranty $2500 EACH!)

The plan if all goes ahead will mean the car is back at the pits tomorrow and back on the road before the sun goes down! :)

Is there anyone in Perth that specializes in BMW auto electrics and could possibly know what's going on regarding the Angel Eyes?

Many thanks once again!
Josh

Check the iDrive, is there a message in there saying they are out/not working?

If so, I'd say the bulbs are burnt out. You can buy LED replacement ones from eBay US for like $50.

It's a big job to replace them though.... front bumper off spec.

It's coming up on the screen with a warning "Park lights not available" or something like that...

Yeah i've been told it's a big job! :/

Think it's just wiring? First the left ones went out and then the right.

Cheers

So I have only paid for a angle eyes light bulb which was fairly cheap, parts was $125HKD but the labour costed my $800HKD.Quoted off the Bimmerforums...

Looks like it's a common problem?

Doubt it's wiring. The bulbs do burn out. Buy some LED replacements and set an afternoon aside.

Best chance would be AutoClassic or somewhere that might sell the style globe. I'll try and find the type of globe you need and let you know.

Found this too

Found on the other e65 forum posted by Blackcat063 "The parking rings lamp is not easy to access and the headlight does indeed need to be removed or at least slightly pulled out of its mounting spot to access the lamp housing for it. Remove the two screws on the top of the headlight assy and then the two on the bottom towards the back of the car, start with the drivers side as it is alot easier to do. Carefully pull the assy forward, then dead center you'll find a black round cover the bulb for the angel eyes, this located near the top of the light fixture in the center. Once the cap is removed unplug the wire and simply turn the socket for the bulb counter clockwise and pull it out. The passenger side is a little more complicated as it is alot easier to do if you remove the air box assy. to give you enough room to work. "
