HAH - Knew it from the centre console and lack of rear seats from the picture of the seats you sent me :)

My GF used to have one, they're fun cars; yours certainly looks like it has some poke.

Also brought in a heavily (T8834D etc) modifed RX7 - was good fun :) All the best with it...

I guessed it and maintained my guess that It was FC Rx7 with a big turbo from the first day lukian said "youll know when it comes"

Only lukian is crazy enough to drive a dirty chook cooker!!!

I have to say it looks bloody awesome, has some choice aftermarket gear on it (drooling over Ohlins, recaros,EMS,trust pulley kit and that abortion of a turbo) and I bet it will put a few apperant "fast cars" to shame!!

Will definetly be a wild car - just keep it in one piece so I can go for a drive in it when I come back to Perth :P

Cheers

**Update**

Todays a good day for an update, as a couple things have happened since ive taken possesion of my babY! Intake gaskets have been replaced, and other tidyups.

Took it to a Tuning shop in O'Connor, which most are familiar with, and to no avail it cannot be tuned. The primary injectors cannot be determined what size they are, and trimming of the fuel maps prove fruitless, as above 2000rpm the a/f ratio is below 10:1

Some electrical fault persists, where below 1200rpm it runs on one rotor. Spark plugs are fouled, and it seems that if they are changed, at the point where it hits 2000rpm they will foul again. Its getting HEAPS of fuel. LF performance is my next point of call as they will know whats the buzz.

10 metres down the road after leaving the tuning shop, my bonnet flys off! Lucky its a convertible, so i grab the bonnet before it makes itself downt he tarmac, cutting my hand and breaking a rather large portion of my fingernail.

I went back, held the anger, shaking like a bitch thinking that was my head on the line, and politely asked for a rag and some duct tape. The owner offered a sorry, and i left for home.

Opinions and such, but what would you do if somebody worked on your car, left the bonnet pins off, you drove off and your bonnet flew up, breaking both corners, cutting your hand and breaking fingernails.

It wouldnt be so bad if it was normal paint. Hell i might of thrown the bonnet on the side of the road and kept driving.

Feel your pain dude! a while ago i was getting new track tyres fitted to the starlet at a wheels and tyre place. The owner thought he'd take his son for a thrash after we left, forgetting to clip on the bonnet pins. Down the road and the bonnet flipped up, bent in half and smashed the windscreen. EP71 parts arn't all that common either....

People do make mistakes, but its wether or not they will admit to making them is the flipside of the coin. If you want my advice I would write a letter explaining the situation and leave them to counter back at what options they wish to offer to rectify the situation. If the reply is not satisfactory, send them another letter letting them know what you think would be reasonable.
You know where to contact me if you need advice/help writing it :)

after which I'd be asking for remittance rather forcefully..
basically go to 3 different specialist shops and get a quote on repair of fiberglass + respray and come back to them with the bills, they can choose, or you can take them to small claims court, the dammage to your bonnet is quite clearly a result of their negligance.

Go the MTA!

These guys can be your best friend... And the worst enemy of that workshop who ****ed you over ;)

All u need to do is give 'em a call, tell them all about your situation, they will open a case for you and investigate. Remember this is a motor vehicle industry ombudsman funded by OUR taxes...

Dont be shy to bring in the big hitters - my mum has got them working on her case against Renault at the moment - she owns a 9 month old late 2004 Renault Megane - and it slips for 3-4 seconds every time it upshifts to second, then flares going into third. She's already been given the runaround by Giant Renault (thinking she's some middle aged woman and they can tell her any old bull****) they reckon they all drive like that (maybe they do - but its still got a problem haha) and that the last models (get this) - had "spools in the gearbox. So be thankful with what you have."
How's that for service after buying a $32000 motor-car from a dealer...

B0BB0
03-08-2005, 12:28 PM
the MTA cant do much if the workshop involved isnt a member.

the best they can do is send a letter, and give u advice i think.

13Beast
04-08-2005, 07:47 AM
If to escape any onus of responsibility and chance of being punished was as easy as not being an MTA member, then who would be able to watch over and preside the industry??

As far as I know, the MTA are the automotive industry ombudsman/watchdog - so regardless of whether the workshop in question is an MTA member or not, the MTA have clout and certainly be able to ruffle some feathers...

Fryman

I received a phone call today, and the owner is more then happy to repair the damage. Its not a nice situation to be in, but it has to be fixed. Given the magnitute of the paint, it aint gonna be cheap.

Its the little things like Bonnet pins, that can cause huge issues.

Time For an update!

Well its been 8 month of pain, cash and numerous boost rotary jokes! Took the pig to Ovaboost for a light tune. The amount of fuel removed from that map is nothing short of a small refinary.

/rant Something is quite astray as the a/f ratios change constantly... cutting and shunting s6+ running gear into a s5 is a headache /rant

It made 305rwhp on 8psi. In the 11s which is safe but not efficient. The dyno graph is not worth posting @ this point until it is tuned again. Fuel pump is the gremlin now as it cannot supply the basting needed to perfectly roast the chook. 044s in transit

Bit of a freak making that much power on low boost. Pulls like a steam train and eats small children.

Thanks to all the support so far from the laggers and close mates. Insults also appreciated and noted. No more stinging eyes and eau de rotor is now discontinued. Also special thanks to cplagz for holding hands and telling me that im pretttty.

Time to hit the track!

315 Angry horsies! It made over 360hp. Then we dropped it down 40ish hp for reliability and stableness. The buffer zone attempts to take any discrepency that might happen in fuel, ignition etc etc.

Goes plenty fast and im happy for it. Now for that nice avgas 44gallon to arrive...

as you can see by the graph, thats what it come down to. And as mentioned before, we took 3 degrees of timing out, and added more fuel for reliability. For you that maybe average, for me that means piece of mind and staying intact for a bit longer. If you dont believe what it says, ill take you for a spin and you can judge for yourself ;)

Its bloody fast in anybodys books... and to put the rumours at bay, it feels ALOT faster then a 315hp car... make of that what you will :D

Whats the point in having massive HP if you wont use it because you're afraid it will pop?

Lukian has done it smart, he's had the car tuned to his budget, he can't afford a rebuild, so he's not going to risk it.

How many cars have you seen that have made bulk HP, but never get driven because they are constantly getting fixed?

Nice work Lukian, now get that bitch on the road.

id say at 1 bar that turbo is barely spinning.

Fryman
20-06-2006, 01:58 PM
Now ya understand. 1 bar is no where near that turbos efficiency. Taken into account that its a older hks dirty jap t45s/51r thing and its relative. Im prepared to run ONLY 1 bar on ultimate 98.

Its not the case that i cannot afford to pay to rebuild this again. I DONT WANT TO!! what BETTER way then having piece of mind that the rotary isnt gonna detonate on wonderful aussie fuel then just restricting the boost. IF and WHEN we get to the point of winding more boost into it, race fuel it is.

This car makes 315-320 reliable rear horse power on 1 bar. understand that it will happily do this with everything no where near capacity, all day long. Eating hsvs and most performance orientated cars on the road with a dirty convertible works for me. And unlike most others, im not gonna have a cry if i loose to somebody else. If it was running 1.8 bar on race fuel, then i probably would!

Fryman
20-06-2006, 01:59 PM
if you dont believe this, ring Mick @ ovaboost, he will be more then happy to reaffirm all this!

Reliability in a rotor is a hard thing, we all know this. Why jeopardise the situation with "YOUR A WEAK FCUK BECAUSE YOU RUN 1 BAR AND ONLY make 315 hp"

[RX2]
20-06-2006, 02:56 PM

I think 1 bar on that turbo is way out of its efficiency range, so its good it's making 315 already.

there is not many cars on this forum that will go any where near it on the road, maybe Simon,Bobbo, booga's and MunchMunch thats it.

small update..

engine is being redone. well half of it. the beauty of being a rotor is cheap repair costs.

leads were on the wrong way, ie backwards, so second housing is perfect(that premix is fantastic) but the rotor has dents in it! a tribute to hurleys, they seem to work ok . Corner seals are rooted as well

it would of got all the wrong timing, ie trailing instead of leading and vice versa, yet it still pealed hard!

So it gets a new c type rotor back together and then time for more skids.

and before the haters get in ahaha. it has done 42,548kms since the original build. and they were HARD hard kms on my tune. So it all works rather well!

its a glitter gold rx7 with a broken body kit and an appetite for tyres when provoked... not much more else to it.. the dog box didnt even get worn in!

since i didnt really care for the body so much as it would of cost too much to respray(functionality over form) , and people these days seem to care how the car looks rather that it gets the shit kicked out of it on the street, daily... the mods should speak for itself ;)

thats not a dig at anybody btw...
