OK, I know everywhere is likely to be very busy.
But does anyone know of any sites that don't get too packed over Easter? Looking to just get away for a few days.
Don't have a four wheel drive so any options that are way off road aren't a possibility unfortunately.

Thanks in advance!

What kind of camping do you want to do?
Fishing etc? Waychinicup is a nice place if you're keen on the drive...
There's plenty of fairly nice bush out behind Collie/Harvey etc. Anywhere that has old logging tracks is usually accessible enough without a 4x4 at this time of year. There's even a few nice spots behind Brunswick Jn that you can get to fairly easily (lots of dirt bikes out there though).

Or if you've got a whole bunch of time off over the break, go up to Karijini

Not into fishing so anywhere that's just got some good hikes around.
Waychinicup looks good actually!

Waychinicup is a gorgeous place. Relatively isolated though, but you're close to a lot of nice bush, and the drive down takes you past the diamond tree etc. Can be a little windy, but just the same as anywhere along the southern coast.

If you want a place where you can be loud and obnoxious at night, and no one will complain, there's an great place in Collie called Stockton Lake. It's basically an old mine pit filled with water, people go there to do water sports and then usually there are loud parties all through the night. Been there a few times, last time I went there two years ago over easter and for that triple J gig they had there, good place to get wasted in the bush with no rangers or goody goody families hassling you to stfu :) If that's what you're after...

Fuck... it's been like more than 15 years since I've last been past Waychinicup way... Think that might be the destination for the anniversary, missus has never been to Albany before, either.
Thanks for the idea, dude!

Except swimming in the Collie camp guide it says swimming is not advised due to the amount of lime or summin like that in the water and can cause skin irritations to people with sensitive skin.

Eastern weekend = Bulk people no matter where you go, imo if u wanna go camping ur better of just goin on a random weekend the places within a couple hours of perth get so packed out so quickly its crazy, like high desity living in the bush!!!

But.... Sandy Cape 14km north of Jurien bay is pretty nice, u got a nice bay similar to Rotto then inland you have Stockmans Cave and a few other caves.
lougue brook half way between Harvey and Yarloop nice place and heaps of space so even if it is busy you can find some where private to camp, it is a water skiing dam so during the day u have to put up with boats hookin about but its that big u dont really notice. But i hear at the moment the water is way way down and its not all that great.
Honeymoon pool/Wellington Dam unless ur leaving and setting up camp on the monday or tuesday prior to the long weekend dont even bother as u wont get a spot.

I used to go to stockton alot for wakeboarding as it was mint before people found out about it largely. I also spent alot of time in the water and my skin is fone.

There are rangers and water authorities there alot tho.

Awesome place for dirt bike riding, getting rank drank and watersports.

Also i think Louges brook is closed to boats at the moment due to water level

I've been in the Stockton Lake water, I spent maybe a couple of hours at most, nothing. It is slightly acidic or something, and may turn your skin a bit red, so unless you spend a whole solid day submerged, you got nothing to worry about. :)

Yeah, I've seen rangers drive by, but they don't do anything. I guess it's a good place to divert all 'camping undesirables' away from the peaceful Honeymoon Pool and Wellington Dam, makes sense to anyway...

Yea the water is beautifully blue due to the acid levels - there's also Black Diamond Lake - another old coal mine.

Loguebrook dam is nice but with the low water level it will be kinda sludgy for swimming but there's places to hike.

Don't think you can camp at Black Diamond? Although people did when I lived in Allanson, I don't think you're supposed to (could be wrong though).
Diving into the Black Diamond is pretty interesting, although the main shaft is scary as shit.

You can get a 2wd car up to wedge pretty easy seen a VS SS cruising around there before.
Wedge gets busier than Perth CBD on long weekends, even more so now there is a road pretty much directly into the town site.

Last time i rode the bike up there was hardly space to park the bike up there was that many people set up day camps on the beach.

^^ they've opened up the road to Wedge now apparently, I don't know how far but it is open.

There were 4 of us camping at Black Diamond a few years ago. Nobody else around so no idea if it were allowed or not?
The ppl I went with were explorer-type divers and they were looking for the shafts to map them and other cool stuff.

Awesome place near Collie is Potters Gorge, its in the middle of bush right on the big lake that leads to Wellington Dam. Gotta get in early to grab a spot though...

Potters and Honeymoon pool are pretty much the same area just diffrent spots along the river.

Potters and Honeymoon pool are pretty much the same area just diffrent spots along the river.

Honeymoons is on the Collie River which is quite narrow whereas Potters is on the main body of water at Wellington Dam. Both very nice spots but Potters is better for swimming/canoeing etc.

Get this book

http://www.successprint.com.au/images/priceless2nd.jpg

We used this when we went camping around the South West , it tells you about all the little camping spots (there are hundreds) what amenities if any are there and which ones are accessible by non-4WDs.

We picked 4 or 5 spots from it over the course of a week and all of them turned out to be really good

Only thing is at Easter even the less well known places are likely to be packed!

Haven't been there for a couple years, but Waroonah Dam is nice for watersports, freshwater so also nice for a little swim, canoeing etc. Bottleshop and supermarket a 10 min drive away.

This easter weekend, I'll be camping in Marina Bay Sands resort and probably losing money >.<

we hit up logue brrok last easter, was awesome, hardly anyone there and the water was high enough for boats to be in there, but low enough that it left a 'beach' to camp on.

haven't been there since though, and i know it's dropped. i have no idea how much by though.
