just seen a link to this place on FB, a workshop where you can go hire hoist tools and spraybooth by the hour or for a full 8hr day.

It's not a bad idea, if I worked on my cars myself I'd be right in to something like this especially the superlow hoist. I suspect it will be full of Trevs most of the time though...
good find, thanks.
wonder if they have a guard roller..

would of thought insurance is an issue here, had this idea several times before

looks like they've got insurance sorted via a few different wordings like only one car per 8 hour session and extra $$ for extra people.

yeh goin thru their rules it does look like they have set it up pretty strict, as in u cant have ur car there and a bunch of mates hanging about only person workin on the car is allowed.
Its an intresting idea and hopefully it works as they have dumped some serious coin into the place, the spray booth and prep bay alone would be pushing $300k at least.

Yeah I popped in.. had seen them previously in Perth Street Car and @ Motorvation.
Looks the goods.. they were telling me basically if you want a tool they can probably supply it but might need some notice to get it in.. they charge a bit extra for some tools (nominal, $5/hour sorta thing) to cover both the tool and to stop people hanging onto them for the whole day.
is $55/first hour, $44/second hour, $33 third hour then $11/hour for 3 more hours then 2 free.. $165/total for the day! When my new car arrives in a couple weeks I'll be booking it out for a day or two to do my major service, timing belt, clutch, etc. So much easier on a hoist. I originally thought it'd be much more expensive than that - that seems quite affordable to me.
They also supply a full workbench with a kinchrome toolbox.
Don't know much about the paint stuff personally but I'm sure many will be into that.
EDIT: They published rates on facebook now

@ 330 per day the spray booth will be well and truely booked out I'd say. I'd almost stump up for the drive down and put the RX7 on a hoist for an hour before any events just to check it at those prices.

I think this is a great idea!
Wonder what happens if someone gets stuck on a job (turns out they dont know how to do it etc) and the car is stuck on the hoist?
Also once you have prepped the car for paint in their prep bay would you need to take the car home then take it back again for paint or can you leave it there overnight and push straight into paint bay?

it cost shit loads to run a spray booth all day, $330 is nothing, if you wan to use the booth go for it. That is dam cheap, and brand new also.

Review
Yeah went here friday around lunchtime until 430pm, Michelle, Her old man and Lance (workshop manager) are 3 of the nicest people you will ever meet.
Michelle kept on bringing me out drinks while i was working and i could see her panties through her skirt - WOULD MOUN!
Place has a diner with couches, stereo, tv and hot/cold food made on request incl drinks.
Also has a bar being opened upstairs on the mezzanine floor and a store below where you can buy things like oil/filters etc etc - All very well priced.
They are getting approval from the MTA so any qualified mechanic can use their workshop to legally service customers cars.
Layout
Workshop layout is pretty good, A-lot of open space, very clean and professionally organised.
All work area's have big portable air-con units too.
Hoists
x2 Two post
x1 Four post, low arm height (so low cars are ok)
x1 Scissor lift
x1 Four post standard arm height
Tools
The boxes you hire have just about everything you need. Any special items you can get from the store for $5 for the time you're there.
Prep booth
1st class, full downdraft and can be fully enclosed or open with the clear plastic drop sheets (like a shower curtain)
Has a belly scissor lift inside it too.
Spray booth
Again 1st class, full downdraft and climate controlled, sealed and well lit
Wash area's
Robowash and x3 manual washers
Pricing
I was there for around 4.5hrs, and cost me $120. The prices they state are hardly what they charge you.
All the beer was on the house too.
They can accommodate after hours work too, so no rush to get your car out by 6pm.
Overall i give this place 5 stars.

drinking is for when the job is done, not during.
I honestly dont think this thing will last, one person will fuck it up for everyone

well beers only started coming out towards the end of the job while giving everything the final once over.
being friday arv i didn't see anything wrong with it.
Lance the floor manager said words pretty close, (hope one person doesn't ruin it for everyone)
