Hey all,
Im sure (well i sure hope) u have all heard of the recent approval and organisation of the Targa West Tarmac Rally '05, to be held in state in early September.
Having a hobby farm in Toodyay, we recieved a letter today confirming that the roads surrounding our property will be closed off due to a stage being held in the vicinity, and this prompted me to begin a thread. This makes me happy, not only does it give me an excuse to get pissed, but also an oppourtunity to get pissed whilst watching some awseome motorsport on our front doorstep. :)
the official site:
http://www.targawest.com.au/
It sounds like an awsesome event approaching us in September, and i hope most of u can get along to see some of the action, specially the hills events (man thers some great roads in Toodge!).
Being a local event, we'd like to hear of anyone u know participating.
This can only be good to the WA Motorsport scene:
"Targa West will take tarmac rallying in Western Australia to a whole new level. Ultimately, within 5 years, growing into an international class event, attracting competitors from all over Australia and South East Asia."
BIG SMILES!!! :)
There will me more updates to the thread as i find out!
Cheers
Jayden

Everyone can come except Simon
Btw - U'd b wanting to put a lift kit on most of ur cars 'cos we got some big ass rocks laying around, and gravel stones are attracted to both metallic and acrylic automotive paints.

Btw, ther is a reserve jus a few hundred metres down from our property, which is excessible by 2wd vehicles. Plenty of space and area to park cars etc. and dont think anyone would kick up a fuss bout u being there, or doing gravel digs in that manner. Once i find out which roads exactly are being used for the rally, I will b more than happy to give u directions to get to the best observation points.
woohoo, pricks wouldnt let me enter :(

Alrightly, not too far away now, just a matter of weeks!
Remember to support these kind of events guys, we get sweet f.a. as it is for interstate events such as this.
Man i love tarmac events!!!
So yeah, most of the teams have been listed, good to see a mix of imports/euro/aussie cars, some cars to note:
a R34 GTR N1, Rob Herridge's RS Turbo, couple of 911's, WRX's, EVO 7/8, M3's, Escorts, S2000's etc
Friday nite, i believe the cars will be parading through northbridge so if u cant get out to see the action, then fri nite would be a good chance to take a glimpse of the cars.
Check the site for more details (first post)
Cheers

Be sensible where your going to stand, as it's going to be hard enough for us officials to control people coming into stages from left right and centre, remember these cars aren't going to be crawling past (which i'm sure you all know but still) they are trying to be kept to an average speed of 130 for each stage...
Also if an official asks you to relocate, please listern as there would be a reason why they haven't made that area a dedicated spectator point. It's going to be hard enough making the first ever event run smoothly as it's new waters to the organiasers, everyone's cooperation is needed to help make this happen.

Woohoo!!
I scored the drive in the Camera car.
We get to do some of the stage, pull over at some highly likely crash spot ( and there are a couple as I recced on the weekend ) , take a few shots and then head to the next stage.
Will be driving one of the Rallymax WRX's so nothing exciting..
* looks at Joe and Jamie*

yer thats fair enough, i think most of us who use these forums have some sort of sense. Most of the corners my way are only easy bends and most of the obvious spectator points are on straight sections
Btw, are u able to release what roads in Toodyay, the rally is most likely to be travelling down

TO GET TO COONDLE WEST RD: Basically go through Toodyay town, first left b4 the bridge, drive past the park (should be on ur right), turn right after (under) the train bridge and ur on julimar rd. Follow this till u hit a street (Coondle West Rd) on ur right basically 10km up, follow this for about 2.5km and turn at the second right (redgum circle). U should find the spectator/parking points not far down that road.

was a good day, good mix of cars, good weather. The set of rally evo's were quite entertaining, EVOVII with antilag, EVOVIII with a screamer (i think?), and another two EVOVI's which put one leg out on the road shoulder to crank out a bit of sideways action up the hill. Highlight would have to be the orange Monaro coming sideways out of the corner and smoking it all the way up the hill. Champ!
Rob Herridge in his RS liberty cleaned up a post on the side of the road aswell
All Good fun
Thumbs up for next year, but definately needed more spectators, i think it needs an antilag cruise to spectator point . :)
Cheers
