free software for basic video editing (MP4 format)

need to cut up some videos taken on the Go Pros on the weekend (MP4 format). Downloaded movie maker but it wont do that format. Suggested programs. only needs to be basic. must be free. who pays for software these days?

I just use Quicktime pro, down load it from Demonoid.

I got something for you rich but you'd need to bring a USB drive to get it as it's over 4.7gb and I can't burn it. ;)

I download the Sony Vegas program pretty good so far..
just goolge it off ISOhunt

Will do any format providing you have correct codecs installed in the first place.

I have some videos recorded on the camera/iPhone in portrait, but when put on the computer they appear landscape. All I want to do is rotate a video.

Anyone suggest anything that is easy/free?
