Hi guys,

I will be going over the pits in the following weeks and wouldn't mind some pre-warning to what they pass regarding location of surge tank & fuel pump.

This is how ive got the fuel system set up

Could i put both the pump and surge into battery box type enclosure with a drain hole going straight out of the car so that incase fuel does leak or i get into an accident fuel leaks out of the car instead of in the boot? Will a battery box suffice or will i have to go stainless?

Ive heard it can be a bit of hit and miss at the pits so any experiences, opinions or helpful suggestions would be much appreciated. Im in WA

thanks

well personally it doesnt look very organised and if it doesnt look organised and well presented then bodge comes to mind... easy pickings
if you can put a "sealed" box around it/over it etc then thats the go... try to hide it the best you can... doent help when your spare tye is going to rub against the hoses either... maybe drill holes and put grommets in floor neatly next to surge tank or get teflon braided lines to make it look more profesional...

just fuckin loop the lines to go over the pits and take the pingpingpingping out to save hassles.

A mate of mine, a few years ago, got his fuel setup passed. He had to have it in a sealed box so no fumes could enter the car, but that box had to also had to have a vent line that went to the outside of the car to allow any fumes to escape to the atmosphere.

Personally I would have thought that line would have to go to his charcoal canister, for enviro/emissions type reasons, but thats how they wanted it.

What material did he make the box out of??

Polished stainless with a lexan (I think) front for show off purposes.

wow, is it even bolted down?

No amount of neatening up is going to make that setup pretty enough to please the inspectors...

take it out to pass the pits would be the easiest bet..

I went over twice and they didn't bother looking in the boot...must have been lucky.

Ive taken the bolts out to try and fit it into a battery box to neaten it up. If that doesnt pass im going to just get an external surge tank and mount it underneath the car.
