Hi Everyone,

Just looking for a few suggestions from anyone that's been to Japan before.

I'm heading over from the 4th to the 19th of Feb with a few mates and we've currently got one week booked purely to snowboard, but still debating the other week's worth of activities.

Definitely keen to check out a few workshops and the like but I was also hoping to find out if there were any decent events on worth seeing (track/drift/whatever)?

All suggestions welcome!

Thanks! :)

back in 2008 i managed to catch a D1 exhibition round in Odaiba (Tokyo) which was awesome, definitely recommend a D1 event if there is one on!!

If your into theme parks Disney Sea is a must. It's like Disneyland but aimed more at adults, the place is a massive 176 acres and the sheer scale and attention to detail of the place will stay with you forever.

Also Akihabara is worth a look if your into electronics and all that.

Anyone not going to Japan in Feb?!

I'm heading over late in the month and into March for some snowboarding (Niseko) and then to Tokyo. Keep the ideas coming!

How are you getting to niseko? Flying into tokyo. Internal flight to sapporo and then the bus up to Niseko? Only reason I say is that with all the connections etc it basically took us 24 hours to get there. I THINK you can catch a train from tokyo up to kutchen (which is about a 30 min free bus ride from Niseko and the closest half major town). Just figured I would catch the train next time because at least you would get to see a bit of the country side and it would be faster.

all JAL internal flights were booked already at the times i wanted so i did some hunting around.

I found Skymark airlines to have flights just over a 100 bucks to get to sapporo. So...

I arrive at narita 7:30.
Get the limousine bus to haneda airport (90 mins)
Catch internal flight from haneda at 10:30.
Arrive Sapporo at midday
Go to the "big runs" desk and they have a coach service to Niseko one way for 2300 Yen.
Booked on 13:00 bus
Arrive Niseko 16:00 at information centre then a small walk to my hotel at Greater Hirafu

Cool!

Train takes 10 hours and is wayyyyy longer and more expensive than a flight
Id recommend the budget internal airlines

Looks like most of us are going to be over there :)

The plan so far is for eight of us to leave Perth on the 4th of Feb, land in Narita and then trek up to Hakuba. We'll spend a week at Hakuba snowboarding, then make our way to Tokyo for hookers and beer.

Once successfully fueled with alcohol a few of us will try and check out a few of the bigger workshops i.e Nismo factory, Tomei factory, Top Secret, Signal etc (hopefully more!).

@ VRX_VRX - Yep definitely going to check out Akihabara

@ Evil1 - fuck yeah, hookers for all

@ Trav - we're definitely going to Kyoto and Osaka also, but not sure on timings for the rest yet. I think there's going to be a hell of a lot to choose from, it's going to be coordinating it all :)

@ Tocchi - Lucky bugger :P

@ 1JZ - Looks like an awesome agenda man, I am going to do my best to find a D1 exhibition too, hopefully there will be something on.

This is going to be a bombed two weeks :)

Fark, there won't even be any japanese on the slopes!

Fly to Hakuba on the 4th for 9 days.

Might extend to do some other stuff in japan if there are some good ideas that come up!

Recently purchased (new), 3 days riding old
Rossignol 157 Agnus board, size 9/9.5 boots (28cm), bindings & board bag
Can organise something in japan if somebody will be near us.. Or can organise when we get back to Perth on feb 7

Currently looking for a board package, but the boots/bindings are too small for me. The Rossi board looks good though.

Thought i would post in here rather than start a new thread...

Heading over snowboarding with a few mates. But I got restless and have 2 nights by myself in Sapporo while I wait for them..

Any tips on where to stay? (right by JR station or closer to the action) and also any must see's? Cheers pingpingpingpings

been tossing up the idea of Japan with a few mates. just spent 2 months in Europe snowboarding and after just about everyone we met recommended Japan probably going to head there Jan next year to board. anyone recommend some good spots? so far heard good things about Niseko.

should probably mention that we hiked up an epic mountain in the Dolomites and snowboarded back down on untouched waist deep powder so not very interested in groomed pistes.
