I have had one of these for years, best bang for buck 5.1 system out there. Won a pile of awards when it was released aaaaaages ago.
I want to upgrade, and keep looking at other systems up to around 2k, and nothing has impressed me enough to buy it over this. Not alot of inputs on it though, I run everything into my TV then just an optical to this system.

Slightly off topic, but are there any similar systems out there, but in black? Similar being similar price with digital input (optical) and a receiver (ie. 'control centre' in this case) NOT the size of Antarctica?
Looking to replace the old surround sound setup in the bedroom but don't want something that will stick out like dogs balls the way both the Z-5500's would and the way my current setup does.

If you leave the fabric speaker covers on, the whole system is black except for the control/reciever. Is that the bit you are worried about sticking out? I barely notice mine and it sits on top of a piano black entertainment unit...

I've had the Z-5400 series for years now and it's brilliant. None the less I ordered the Z-5500 :D. Thanks for the link.

Good bang for buck sound, but they are super bass heavy (in a bad way). All the rumbles are muddy and just annoy other people in the house /neighbours even when listening at moderate levels.

Ahh! Didn't realise they had covers, I thought they were just silver. Thanks!
