Hey guys,
My mates got an 03 VY Clubsport R8 and it feels like its running on 7 cylinders.
Have replaced the fuel filter, plugs and leads and swapped the coil packs and injectors with the ones from my mates vy ss which has a blown gearbox.
Still runs like a piece of shit!
Seems to get worse and worse as the car gets hotter.
It was tuned at wa performance and mate 380 at the rears, usual mods(cam, springs, otr, 2.5)
Out of ideas at the moment, thinking about dragging the thing in bush on a cold night, sitting around it and lighting it on fire.

tell him to give Mitch & Deb (WAperf) a call :)
they'd be able to help im pretty sure
Fuel pump - my liberty as it got hotter got worse, less pressure - ran worse.
Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and take it for a drive.

Have you isolated which cylinder isnt firing ?
I wouldnt trust swapping leads from someone elses car in the chance it could also have a failed lead , pretty common with extractors.
If you isolate it then swap leads see if the dropped cylinder moves.
Ha sit got compression on all cylinders?
So many things it could be, Take to WA Perf

what was changed or events before it starting seeming like its missing?
i would say less of a chance its running on 7 cylinders and more a case of running rough coz of a air leak (manifold/throttle body area) or a faulty reading IAT sensor. easy to forget to put IAT back into OTR when cleaning the filter. it will cause the car to feel like its missing/sound lumpier the warmer it gets

^ +1
Seen this happen on a highly tuned Gen III. Sounded like shit when it first came in, the mechanic who initially inspected it thought it had done the Head Gasket. After some poking around it turned out to be the PCV system, not sure if it was just the hoses, or the PCV valve though.
Give it a clean and see if that helps.

Was there any internal damage?
Well before it was 376hp, still drives the same, still dumps 3rd.
it was a valve on the intake side so it backfed thru the intake.
only drove for ~50kms with it like that
