Ordered cam, lifters and a spring set from Lunati, should be here in a week or 2

Looking into Powerbond underdrive balancer kits but can't find for any less than $300++ .. so might give this a miss for now and do it later on, not that big of a job

Looking into LS2 timing chain swap, unclear on whether I replace the sprockets also, and what chain dampener to use as I've read the ls2 one does not fit ls1?

anyone do a decent price on a lsx valve spring compressor tool?

and lastly, looking for a recommendation on a gasket kit to use, might even get extra keen and throw some fresh head gaskets in there while I'm at it.. thoughts??

thanks
sam

Have u looked at double row chain mate?? Any ideas on tuners??

not keen on double row chain, would mean dicking around with the oil pickup and possible clearancing of timing cover. LS2 chain seems strong by all accounts.. and i shouldn't need to degree the cam, just going dot to dot on it

tuner: WAPerf. I'll hobble it down there on stock tune once the cam is in and all running again

random point of gayness: did NOT realise lifters in these are UNDER the heads.. meaning lifters is a heads-off job :( not sure if keen. might box them up for later

Shouldnt have to take the heads off to change the lifters. Pull them out with a strong magnet. I've seen it done that way.

LOL WHAt!!!

like fuck. the lifters are larger than the holes in the heads. besides they sit underneith the plastic retainer cups.

Your not thinking of the pushrods?

Ahhhh. Right. I stand corrected. I knew the pushrods came out with a magnet.
I thought the lifters did too. Never mind me.

Tre-Cool you have obviously done this a few times??

How big a job is it really to pull the heads? Reckon I'm better off just doing cam and springs and putting lifters in a box for later ??

if it were me i wouldnt be bothering with the lifters unless there was a problem with the existing ones or i was getting the heads ported.

you would need new gaskets and new bolts which adds another $3-400 to the job for likely no gain.

ok i have an idea.

There's a set of heads lined up for this car anyway, probably happen once I get to Townsville after February2011. Higgins CNC'd spec. So! I might just put the lifters in a box and save them up and do them at the same time as the heads.
