Got a 500g portable but its in NTFS tried heaps of programs all seem to crash on windows 7 / vista. Got a MAC tried plugging it in was hoping that it would automatically start to format as I have NFI how to use a Mac. Can anyone tell me something that works. Did a search seen something before but can't find it anymore.

Cheers.

you can use windowss to shrink your hard drive to 32gb as a partition.
then you can format that 32gb as FAT32.
and the rest of it as NTFS or whatever.

i went through a fuckload of programs trying to do this also :(

slightly off topic..

I have a partitioned hard drive, stupid me partitioned 10gb for XP and left the remainder 490gb for my documents/music/pics ect...

idea was so I can just do clean formats without having to back shit up..

now my 10gb partition is full and poses issues when windows tries writing too it.. "low disk space"

is there a way to change the size of the partitions without format or am I going to need to convert the partitions through format and start again?

download partition magic etc.
I personally would ghost the partition, wipe then expand it out via that method.
