Nothing actually happens on screen when they sync.
I just went through it with my move controllers and didn't think anything was working...
My process was:
Controller off
plug it in via USB
hit PS button - controller turns on
then it is synced (with no further info) on screen

... is it charged? maybe leave it plugged in for a bit.

Press the little reset button on the underside of the controller with a toothpick or something similarly small.. that will re-sync it.

Fully charged overnight and reset it a few times trying to get it to work.
tested it by going in game to a twoplayer race, no go.

All that happens when you press the ps button is that it flashes for a bit then turns off instead of lighting up the p2 button. Im stumped not far off going back to eb and throwing it at him.

Make sure both the PS3 and controller are turned off.

Manually turn the PS3 on and once it has booted up, THEN I plug the USB in and press the PS button.

Don't you have to sync them manually first? IE. like the Blu-Ray controllers? It is in settings I think from memory?

By plugging the controller in via USB it should charge and operate like normal, if thats not happening then either something is wrong with the controller, send it back
