the zook had a loud thrust bearing for a while and made a loud "wining noise" when the clutch was in!

decided to check it out changed gearboxes on the sierra a few times so thought it would be no hassles... However! unbolted the gearbox, dropped the tail shaft and everything is off. The gearbox is not budging! tried crow bars screwdrivers jacking it up on angles wobbling it and nothing.
next step is snatch strap and patrol.....
unless you guys can diagnose the problem or advise something?

Sounds to me, like youve got a spigot bearing thats picked up. I had a couple do that to me on sierra's the other month. Both wore a nice mark on the input shaft, those box's were easy enough to get off.

Unfortuantly, youve gotta get it off somehow, you need to get that input shaft off the bearing, you cant access it any other way.

hmmm other people have said that it has melted-fused itself together internally do not have any way of getting it off without damaging it.

That wont effect the box coming out . Has the box moved back at all ?

well there is enough room to put a crow bar in there maybe 1" and that is all... it can wobble around a little but its as iff its pivoting off something internally in the middle?

As Josh said it will be spiggot stuck on imput shaft . Ask Brockas if he can help you out , them big arms will pop box out in no time :)

haha! the gearbox only weighs like 20kg...
if Brockas cant do it then will get GQ patrol and snatch strap and video camera onto it :P

This isn't going to end well at all, keen to see Swift go flying into Patrol :)

Keen to see video..

Maybe try pressing the clutch? If the thrust is welded then that should lever the box telling you if it is or not??*

*May be wrong.

If it's come out about an inch I'd say the spigot has come with it, it won't come any further as the clutch plate is stopping it, maybe try unbolting the clutch if you can get to the bolts.

its a sierra 4x4...
not motivated atm... but when the time comes video will be up :P
it is hanging off about an inch but that is all, just enough to put crowbar in.

How hard would it be to take out motor as well? remove as complete unit...

that way you can move around it easier, and get on top of it...

Does the bell housing have an inspection port on it? perhaps where the clutch fork is activated? could try and undo pressure plate through port...

yes taking engine is an option...
just gave it a tug (the gearbox not my cock) and it slid back about 2-4 inches
its beyond the clutch problem it has to be spiggot stuck on imput shaft.

Yeah meant Sierra
Like I said if its moved that much then the spigot has come out of flywheel or crank wherever it is and is fouling on the clutch plate.Hence why it wont come out further.
