The 3rd gear turn after the slow second gear hairpin requires a bit of a flick to shift the body weight of the car to take it at decent speed. Then the last long right hander you get some understeer but you can take quiet a few different lines through it to come out at a fairly similar pace so I don't think that one will effect your lap time too much *shrugs*

Only issue with this that I found, if someone has a tuned/modified version of this car in GT mode and has it as a favourite car, it becomes available to use in arcade mode. I have done this with a couple of cars to use in split screen 2player mode.

last turn is a cvnt.. it tightens so you really need to hang wide with mid throttle then you should be able to hold full power past the apex.. unfortunately the couple of times i managed to string together a great exit on the last bend the rest of my run had been a shambles.

When I loaded up last night all of my times set the previous day were still there. The list just seems to be your fastest times recorded from all sessions on that track, with that car - sorted in descending order.

And yep, I use a G25.


It's a pity you cant transfer someone else's ghost online - ie we could all spend the week chasing the leader's ghost.

GT5 Prologue had public time trials which rotated car/track every week or two. The ghosts were automatically uploaded to the server so anybody could download any of the ghost replays on the leaderboards. I'd imagine we'll get the same with an update patch sooner rather than later. Would make managing these sorts of time attack events so much better.

Can easily see where you could get into the 51's, one lap I was well ahead of the ghost only to put a rear wheel on the dirt half way through the last corner FML

I feel the hardest challenge is seeing out of the corners, because the screen isn't wide enough on the tight corners you almost have to predict where to pick up on the throttle.

I though a 51 was possible but not a 51.7!!!! Then 03stiwrx casually claims that a low 51 is easily possible? Then I'm thinking "no fucking way! something's going on here...."

So my best lap before last night was a 52.202 - and without to much effort it's now a second faster. Why?

Because I turned 'Skid Recovery' on like the rest of you cheating pingpingpingpings obviously have.

So now when you overcook it and start to slide instead of being thrown off the road or into a spin the car generates more grip and just hooks up through the corner. So now the game rewards you for fucking up and going too quick. The whole physics engine basically goes down the toilet.

The time attack rules should have probably been more specific. Most of the so called 'driver aids' make the car easier to drive but also slower (ie TCS, ASM etc) but Skid Recovery makes it a lot easier and quicker.

So Jazza and ED40, that's how you do those times. Get the game to hold your hand and wipe your own arse. :p

Exactly why I haven't been trying this anymore. I managed to get 52 flat with no aids except ABS1 (and that was pretty much a perfect lap) and I don't see myself breaking into 51s without other aids bar lucky laps. Don't really want to turn skid recovery etc on because it'll just fuck up my driving style for proper races.

Yes, but you can't police it at all (ie. you can't tell if it is off, short of having the person recording the time videoing and going through the menus). Don't know about you, but I CBF doing that for the sake of some friendly competition.

At the end of the day, all driver aids are there and available. It's the way the game is made. You have the choice to use them or not. Don't like the rules? Don't play.

I don't like it, but I'm with 03stiwrx here. The rules were never stipulated as far as what assistances you can use. Good on him for experimenting to get the most out of the car.

In saying that, thankyou MGR for pointing it out as well. I'm a pleb and have no idea how to set up a car. Best I could do before was a 53.3 (or something). I'm off to have another go at it with Skid Recovery on to see how much faster I go.

Skid Recovery can be manipulated to really boost times. That big sweeping final corner that should be topped out in 3rd you can take in 5th if you come in hot and throw out the back end a bit then come across from the outside, and throws you down the main straight with stacks more speed.

Best real lap I have managed is a 53.07. It was far from perfect but I'm happy as I've come down a long way from when I started. Using a controller.

I checked the first few posts, nothing said you couldn't use the driver aids.

I'm not genuinely calling anybody a cheat for using SR because you're dead right about it not being banned in the original post/rules. It's actually my fault for assuming everybody would have those aids disabled. :)

Most of the driver aids are applied to the car itself (ie TC limiting wheelspin, ASM independantly braking each wheel to keep the car stable, ABS to keep the brakes from locking etc). All of the aids exist in real life (although things like ASM are not usually associated with race vehicles).

Skid recovery alters the laws of physics on the fly. Because of this I think SR should probably be banned for future Time Attacks.

I've saved the replay of my fastest lap each time I went faster. I think you can see the tyres used from the replay data and maybe you can see the driver aids used as well. The replays can be exported and uploaded to the web - which anybody can then download and import back into GT5 and watch on their own PS3. Too much fucking about though IMO.

Looking forward to the update patch which allows us to run custom Time Attack Leaderboards. Then we'll be able to force particular rules/aids and automatically upload fastest lap replays for others to download.

I reckon that 51.2 can be easily beaten but I probably won't bother chasing more time unless SR is banned.

yer, i was 52.2 without SR and then did 51.9 with that on and ABS on 4

next challenge, just put the it in the rules..... no aids

maybe turn ABS off :p
