Brother is a shitkicking apprentice fitter out in the Goldfields.. Im sure he has washed his fair share of filthy utes..

just got a message back:

"enviro blue degreaser".. all over apparently, they only use the Acid wash on ultra filthy examples.

Acid bath straight up leave for 10mins and wash off remember to do this at a car wash not at your house otherwise your bricks/limestone/gravel will be red or white for ever.

p.s Can you PM me where and how much it cost you ! Thanks

Big job ahead. But they normally come up a treat if you put plenty of elbow grease into them, We use to remove all the interior parts and scrub then individually, pull the plugs out of the floor and jack the cars up and hose the dirt out. As for the outside. A good wash 1st i reckon, then a cut and a buff. Acid can be harsh. I use to acid up the engine bays. Places that were harder to get to. Be sure to hose the chassis rails out. They can hold plenty of red dirt to get the rust going.

CT18 truckwash, highly concentrate the mix, leave on for half a day and repeat. Top to bottom, rails and all. Then WD40 the undercarriage and it will be nice and black, buff the duco and it should be ok.

My HDJ80 comes back looking like that from holidays and its returned to mall cruiser spec in a day.

I have done a couple of red dusters that are on par with this at work, degrease first then acid wash, will get the name of the acid we use at work for you tomorrow if you want, gets the shit off pretty well, will come up 100 times better but wont be 100 percent, will help having a high pressure gun if you have access to it.

I sure as fuck smash the hell out of mine when I'm onsite... I would never ever buy one. Also wear a bloody dust mask if your mucking around with it, a lot of sites have asbestos or silica problems and utes are full of the crap.

Try some oven cleaner, a mate who used to detail cars used to use it on old piles of shit that he had to clean.
Dont leave it on too long though.

Have seen a few mining cars with split intake hoses, which are then continually driven until the motors are dusted to fuck, amongst staked radiators, snapped drag links, snapped off pitment arms, bent diffs and radius rods from being jumped

all the fun shit

asbestos or silica cars have warning stickers ;)
it can be hard to check out the cars without a test drive but if you have half a brain you can spot the ones that have been driven hard . (helps if you find the service book ;)

last night a degrease'd the ute and hi pressure clean'd it (didnt do jack)

so i got the buffer out and use'd a cut compound (was very slow and didnt do much)

next my mate brought so acid around ,think it was industrial tile cleaner
hammer'd the ute with this and let sit for 20min then with wet n dry sand paper (very light stuff) we sanded the hole cab back till we hit the white paint . was bloody hard work but it now just needs a cut n polish
will try the ali bright for the engine bay and under body
unless anyone post's up something better (ill try the lot )

thanks for all the help guys :D

Brave man buying an ex-miner ute hahaha. I would never buy one knowing what we did to them first hand.. That one is a fair bit dirtier than any of our utes ever got to though.

Just the same as buying a used performance car...
I wouldn't touch anything i've ever owned in the past, & none of them have been near a mine site ;)

15k is huge, we just got rid of all our old 100 series wagons and most of thsoe went for 5-6k
one of them was a bargain, used by communications mob who looked after it, just over 300,000km with full service history including recent diff, gbox, transfer oil changes etc, and NO dents!
ours were used as up track cars and still drove good despite a few dings here and there

Depends on the motor, if its a 1HZ then it is very expensive but if its got the 1HD-FTE then it is well priced. If its the later the engine will sell for 12k alone.

Decent cut and polish will get rid of most of it , the paint needs to be cut back , no matter how much cleaner you use the paint is stained.
Would actually be easier to respray it ...

Use an acid called R.I.O or even Allibrite ( call a chemical supply company )
What you want is a cleaner with Fluric Acid in it but be carefull using it as this stuff eats your bones
Make sure you wet the car down fist so it doesnt dry on the paint and try stay away from the glass because it will mark it but we use this shit at work all the time and it works mint.
