Feck - I need a quote on that too.
Concrete pool, South Perth.
Are you serious about normal paint?
How would that hold up to the cleaner scuffing over it for 8 hrs/day in summer?

by normal i mean industrial spray paint and with proper prep and application they come up real nice i did my old mans bout 6 years ago before he sold the house and it still looks brand new.
its not a cheap job if done properly say your pool is 12mlx3mwx2md max i would say on a guess including the floor at least 40 litres of decent paint as you want real good coverage say about 600 to 900 microns thick would be nice but a minimum of 450 microns

the paint would last 5 mins and start peeling, if you dont use an epoxy type your fucked

alot of industrial paints are epoxy based now days as they are harder wearing. otherwise try something like JOTUN epoxy paints but in the smooth finish like they use in some car show rooms, you can get some wild colours and tints aswell

used to be in the fiberglass industry and made spas pools showers etc
if its a fiberglass pool then a gelcoat mixed with catalyst will be needed.
as concrete goes! would have no clue

or you could say in your 1st post hey i`m a painter would you like me to quote it.
instead you have gone from suggestion "just normal paint" and "i`ve done my old mans pool" to having "done heaps of fucking pools" and "epoxy paints".
Nowhere in your posts did you mention the fact you are a painter. only thing that slightly resembled the fact you might be is that you mentioned a unit of measurement commonly used by painters or coating applicators.
net result is you come out looking like a gumby (again) and the original poster is no better off.

cant give quotes with out acurate sizing just sayin both pools are 65000 lts means shit to a painter but means heaps to a plumber. you need length width max. height type of surface has it been done before. how much are you willing to spend.

You spend all day driving around in a white van full with paints, thinners, other solvents and chemicals in summer with no a/c and see how you turn out.

I always imagine bricklayers as people that never made the step from Duplo to Lego Technic as kids

Worse, they're still cavemen.
They stack rocks. Modern manufacturing techniques have made the rocks rectangular and of even sizes, but they still stack rocks, cavemen spec.
And most of them fuck it up.
I never made it to lego technic :(

Worked as a hammer hand for a chippy, and swear brickwork was fucked on half the houses we did. Brickies still haven't learnt how to use a level.

so anyway i am tackling the same project. i've been researching for ages and ended up buying about 700 bucks worth of Dulux "poolpon" or somesuch
it's a 2 part epoxy enamel which should last 25 years or something
the other type is "chlorinated rubber"
to help choose what type of paint will suit best you need to know what the existing paint is. to test you can use acetone/similar on a patch and if it comes off all stringy it is most likely chlorinted rubber. if there's no reaction it is probably epoxy
i've been putting off this job for ages and not looking forward to it at all but the quotes i was getting were over 10k for professionals to do this job..
hope this helps

I used to do this for a living
But not anymore
The surface needs to be scrubbed , scraped and cleaned down with acid... then washed again and again before you get anywhere near paint
So be aware of exactly whats involved before tackling
Especially emptying the pool and having it not crack
I saw a pool pop out of the ground once... very wierd to see

seriously there's ways to go about things but adding in the 'kindly fuck off' & 'wouldn't want a dead shit pingpingpingping like you around my house' is that really necessary ?
feel free to correct me if im wrong, but i fail to see why the bandwagons going full steam ahead...

It's the bandwagon, I have no control over it. But I would still say that to someone regardless of what the bandwagon wishes to do if they spun me all that shit in the first place. I asked for a quote to paint it or even a contact of someone who someone has used which I have been supplied with, if I was interested in doing it myself I would have started a thread on DIY pool painting. Read my post a page back I think and I said the thread could be deleted now. So consider yourself corrected.
