hey guys/girls
im allmost finished renovating my home and i have ''water hammer'' all day all night :(
to stop it i turn off a tap that comes from or feeds the solar hot water system , the hammer stops straight away but then all the hot taps dont work ,
i have moved plumming in the bathroom and kitchen
and just installed retic, the problem happened not long after the retic but the retic is on cold water so i was thinking turning off the mains water might of stuffed up my hot water system or the hot water system has a fault
dont wanna get ripped off with call out fee's ect ect
can anyone help is this a common problem ? i can weld copper pipe ect ect so if you think you know wat the problem is i can get the parts and try it but happy to do a cashie

Do you have any pressure valves or air chambers in your system? I was having the same issue as the water pressure was too high for my dodgey pipes, installed a pressure valve and made the problem go away

Best mate is a plummber and said this is one of the most common problem/solution.
If you need a plumber I can pass on his details. Cheaper than most plumbers and dose a top job.
fuck can anyone spell PLUMBER correctly in this thread?
i used to work for solar hart and can tell that itll be the copper piping needs securing about every metre or so smash some clips on. piece of piss to do usually half inch or 3/4'' pipes. the trick is just finding wich pipe is doing it

It's water pipes so they should be 15mm. It's just the copper pipes moving around. You just need to secure them properly. As above the problem will be finding the pipe/s. If you have problems with plumbing in the cavity walls its a big job..
A pressure limiting valve will reduce the pressure and thus the pipes won't be forced to move around as much but this may then reduce your water pressure out of the taps associated with that valve so you're not really fixing the issue.

when i used to manage a plumbing supply store, we sold anti-hammer valves...
dunno if they were just a gimmick or not though.

mate, i got the same issue recently did renos also.
I put in a hammer arrestter (anti hammer thingo) but it only help that tap.
id recommened to get a plumber out, since those arrestters cost 30-50 dollars each and to do each tap will cost a bit, cheaper to get someone out to fix it imo.
good luck
