Time Attack Battle 2010 - Barbagallo - October 29th 2010
When and Where

Barbagallo Raceway – Wanneroo - Friday October 29th. Scrutineering will start at 5pm, the first cars will be on the track at 6pm and all lapping will be completed by 10:00pm. For full details of the timetable, you can review the Supplementary Regulations.

What

The format will be pretty much the same as the last event. You will have many opportunities put in timed laps of the track, and your fastest lap will determine your overall place and your place in your class. There will be 9 classes and each class winner will be rewarded with a trophy. Besides a trophy per class, there will be trophies for the top 3 overall and also an award for the ‘Driver of the Day’. The same ‘big screen’ results display will be back, including live SMS messages of your times.

Who

There will be many people involved in organising this event. At the moment, we are still looking for some volunteers to turn the sausages or wave some flags and to be an integral part of, what will be, an awesome event. Please contact us if you are interested and like free food!

Also, fresh from his win of the Targa West, Pete Major will be competing in the Ex-Jun Pro Race Products Evo X. This car has set sub 1-minute times around Japan’s Tsukuba circuit, so we can’t wait to see this in action at Wanneroo!

Mmmmmm..... FOOD... as some of you might remember from last time, we will be feeding you and making sure that you (and your family) have a decent meal whilst having fun on the track. Please keep in mind - the more you eat; the heavier your car is.

Please email info@raventechracing.com for more information, and click here to download the Supplementary Regulations (which includes the entry form).

Would the removal of my passenger seat put me in unlimited?
All the other aspects would see me in street class.

(Sold front seats, bought a single bucket... Everything else is intact.)
I'm not keen on buying another bucket anytime soon.

If you are only missing one front seat we would probably put you in the 'Limited' Class due to you having a bucket seat. If you send an email to michael@raventechracing.com with all the specs of your car, I can make a definate decision for you.

If your car came from the factory with fixed back buckets, Would you fall into street or limited?

If that is the factory interior (or even a factory option) then it would be classed as Street.

I did show up but was told you had no photographer licence for the event, after smashing my very expensive lens several times on the fence attempting to pan over it I decided its best to go home

I took a couple wandering around the pits pre-event, but my panning skills suck balls, especially in the dark. Will post up the few pics I have once I get home as they are not on this computer.

Wtf is a photographer license?

All orgonisers need a media licence for photographers to have trackside access, something to do with insurance. Seeing as this wasnt run under wascc they didnt have one.

I asked if I could go out anyway as it was far from my first time there but was told no...

FranZ

Huh? They do?

There can be a preference at some events where being a CAMS accredited photographer will lead you to be in a higher preference for media access but this by no means is a limitation or a rule - the decision for being granted media access is by the event organiser. It seems at this event, Raventech's problem with their preferential photographer has burnt them by missing out on some of your great photos Serge!!

Taken from: http://www2.cams.com.au/content.asp?PageID=About&ObjectID=7

Fact vs. Fiction
It is not actually compulsory to hold CAMS Photographer Accreditation. Any photographer, regardless of their status, is entitled to apply directly to an event organiser for event-specific photographer accreditation. It therefore follows that the event organiser holds the ultimate decision making power regarding who they allow to attend their event as a photographer, subject to any conditions which may be applicable.

In some cases, the event organiser may insist that photographers hold CAMS Photographer Accreditation as a minimum requirement and CAMS understands that this is totally their decision. However, event organisers are also asked to bear in mind that the CAMS Photographer Accreditation program has never been intended to limit or restrict photographers from plying their trade at motor sport events and servicing their local motor sport community, particularly at the grass-roots levels of the sport (i.e. State and Club level events) where media coverage is often difficult to obtain and where motor sport photographers are encouraged to develop their skills and gain valuable experience.

Venue operators and event organisers/promoters must ensure that all photographers, whether they are CAMS accredited or not, who attend CAMS sanctioned events:
+ are given a safety briefing prior to the event identifying the areas where they are and are not permitted to take photos from;
+ sign the relevant CAMS disclaimer; and
+ are provided with the appropriate identification (ie. credential, vest, etc).

Thanks for that :) I was a bit surprised when told I couldn't get track access.

As a side note, Im in the proccess of geting cams accreditation. If all goes well should be sorted by end of the month

It was nothing to do with having a preferential photographer, as he would also having been given the same access as Serge was granted - i.e. must be behind impenetrable safety barriers. This is all our AASA insurance permits us to do - media or otherwise.

None of this was relevant at our event as it was not a CAMS event - but thanks for posting this up for clarification.
