As per my usual technical no-nothing threads, I have been looking into a Billion VFC fan controller.

Key Features:
- Temperature based fan operation
- Two Speed (High/Low) fan control
- Displays temperature via LCD display, accurate to 1C degrees.
- Peak Temperature memory
- Temperature Alarm
- Supports up to 3 temperature and 1 voltage (battery) sensors

Now as far as I can tell I have one motor driven fan and 2 thermo fans on my radiator, so I imagine it's just controlling the thermo fans and not the engine fans, correct?

Now here is the part where you can flame me and make funny jokes, what does an oil drain sensor have to do a radiator or fan controller? I also see an intake sensor as well, which also further confuses me. The little tech blurb says that it can have different temp sensors, so may be possible to read other temps besides water?

So the silly questions of today are:

Is it worth buying? (As a water temp + fan controller combined item)
What do the extra sensor attatchments do?
Would this, combined with a thermostat; be a competent rad setup without having to go to an entire new radiator setup? (car will be hitting the track soonish)

Kisses and hugs,

Telly.

Thermo/Engine fans do minimal to aid in cooling when the car is actually moving. A lower temp thermostat will help in cooling by obviously opening at a lower temp.

The thermo fans/engine fans are for low speed/idling to drop the coolant temp. I'd say the oil temp is to keep the fans on longer after the coolant temp has dropped to aid in cooling that down also (although an oil cooler/thermostat setup would work better).

Are you running an ECU?

Negative on the aftermarket ECU.

So what is your main purpose for this? To me it seems like an overcomplex fan control system that costs a lot.

Well figured because it also acts as a water temp gauge, it's kind of like an expensive gauge with the added function of the fan controller. Just curious as to whether the price premium is worth it.

Seems to also be able to read a 'Second indicator' which I'm assuming is where the added sensor dongles come in.
