So, since I currently canīt afford a Cossie overe here, and I canīt justify to have mine shipped over, I decided to do some mods to my daily so it at least would be semi-interesting to drive.
The car was bought in Melbourne in March this year.
According to the previous owner, this is the identical sister car featured at the Sydney Motor Show the September prior to general release of the C70 model.
So this is then a manual Volvo C70 T5.
It has a 2.3 litre 5cyl. highpressure turbo engine and produces 176kw stock.
Itīs more or less fully equipped with all the fruit Volvo had to offer.
It has a massive Dolby Pro-Logic surroundsound system and is currently rolling on 18inch BBS/Volvo optional rims..
Anyways, the car was bought and driven over to WA.
Licensing etc. went well.
Here are some photos from the beginning.

Somewhere around Ceduna I think...
http://www1.garaget.org/archive/4/3106/195359/195359-1822105.jpg
I drove it like this for a few months until I got bored and decided to sell, but since the market around Perth for a Volvo is quite shit I ended up keeping the car, and I have now started ordering some parts.
The first thing that rocked up was an E46 M3 bootlip spoiler.

Other things that are on my to-do-list is:
-Getting windows tinted darker
-Stage 1 Autotech chip, 285hp & 415Nm. (ordered)
-K sport coilovers (ordered)
-Powerflex bushed for wishbone and top engine mount (ordered)
-Facelift XC-grille (ordered)
-R-line 302mm front brake kit. (280mm and shit stock)
-Fatter swaybars
Have considered getting the facelift head and rear lights too, but the price isnīt justifiable at the moment...
Parts are ordered from Sweden, so unfortunately delivery takes some time :(
Iīll update with more photoīs and info as the parts drop in :)

Had to drive the car all the way back from Melbourne without plates.. Every, and I mean every, time I met a cop, they did a u-turn and pulled me over.. Had the right permits though, so never got a ticket ;)

Well, since Iīm only here on a 3-year visa and havenīt decided if Iīm staying or not after Iīm done at uni, it canīt be justified to have it shipped over just yet... Havenīt looked into how much it would cost to have it shipped, but my guess is that it wonīt be cheap... And I canīt afford running a car like that while studying.. :(

Building/rebuilding the car isnīt the problem.. But paying for the parts that fails every now and then is... Went home for 8 weeks this winter and did about 5000kms... One rear diff, one alternator, 8 crooked exhaust-valves, one turbo-rebuild... It ainīt cheap sorting out a newly built car, thatīs for sure!! Before I went back to OZ, I ordered new coilovers, a quife rear diff, new driveshafts, cv-joints and propshaft... Incredible what a couple of Banzai-takeoffs can do to the driveline in an AWD car :p

This morning I was woken up by a loud knock on the door... It was postman Pat with a very saught after package... My heater core started leaking quite badly about two months ago, resulting in me bypassing the heatercore so that the car still would be drivable.. However, it was friggin cold two months ago, and I have missed the heater alot... Volvo Aus. wanted around $500 dollars for the core, and that was without fitting. Being a povvo-student I decided to take my business elsewere, namely, Germany. Contacted Baer/Hella and ordered a core which ended up costing me $169 with shipping. Only problem was that it was on backorder...
Anyways, it showed up today, so I figured Iīd change it.
Said and done, here are som photoīs...

How stupid is the construction of that heater core hey? Plastic, metal and nearly boiling water obviously donīt match too well...
The cossie is having its winter beauty-sleep in a mates garage in Sweden. Naturally had to let the lease of m own garage go when I moved over here..
Miss it every day, have to watch vids of it online to soothen the cravings.. :(
^^ Nothing is as bad as the Toyota Soarer. Where the alternator core is immediately below the commonly failing Power steering fluid reservoir.
I must say, the P2 platform has a number of logical improvements. Having said, the P1 is almost bulletproof!

Ok... Talked to DHL yesterday... They said I could expect my coilovers on Monday :)
Autotech Motorsport sent the new ECU Tuesday last week so Iīm hoping itīll show up before the weekend...
In preparation for the new ECU, I decided to throw in a boost gauge that I had lying around from my old saab.
Went to repco and picked up an Autometer gauge-holder and some vacuum-hose.
Decided to put the gauge on the steering column STI-style since I didnīt want it in the A-pillar and there was no good spot for it on the dash either...
Found a rubber-grommet thingy through the firewall which wasnīt used.
And a couple of vacant spots on the intake aswell :)
some photos then.

Also, this "bolt-on" kit wasnīt so bolt on after all.. Had to modify the rear top strutmounts in order for the shockie to actually fit at all...

Looks fantastic now! No rub on full lock? How about handling and ride comfort?
How much shipped if you don't mind my asking? Somebody needs to buy my brick before I go spending.... Sorry about all the questions.

Well, to be totally honest, the wheels did already rub on full lock, so Iīm guessing it still does... I never go to full lock since I now itīll rub... Maybe some 215/35-18īs and wheelspacers would sort that out...
Handling and ride comfort... Well, only drove it home from my sisters place last night, and thatīs just a 30kms strech of freeway more or less... Comfort seems to be quite good compared to the D2īs I had on my Skyline a few years ago... They were horrible, but the weight of the Volvo seems to do the trick.. Will give it a proper go this weekend after everything has settled in properly... Will need an alignment too..
The K-sport coilies are on special in Sweden at the moment, theyīre asking 5 800 sek wich is under $1000. Compare that with the same kit bought here in Aus for $1700. Was worth waiting 3.5 weeks to save that kind of money...
The kit weights about 28kgs, I had mine sent with DHL which isnīt the cheapest way, but it was fairly quick...

ECU is going to cut the roof off for him?
hahaha, thatīs too funny :)
Installed the new ECU and took it for a spin, but it seems like my wastegate is slightly worn so it wonīt keep the boost up unfortunately... only added 0,2bar peak boost and then goes down to stock 0,7bar...
Will see if I can tighten it a bit, or if thereīs nothing else to do than to buy a new one...

You need to get a IPD HD TCV !! [IPD-USA Heavy Duty Turbo Control Valve - http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-C70-1998-2005/Performance/Heavy-Duty-Turbo-Control-Valve/p-75-636-4290/]

Talked to Autotech the other day, and they said that it's pretty common that the wastegate is worn so it has to be tightened a fair bit. Said and done, tightened it today, now I've got a boost pending between 1.2 bar and 0.9 bar, so the wastegate is rooted... Question is, do I buy a new stock wastegate, or do I go for an aftermarket wastegate, and if so, where could I pick one up?
Well thats interesting news that it isn't the Turbo Control Valve. I know when I changed mine it made a difference with the boost. Yet, Im glad you were able to correctly diagnose it and fix it. As for the wastegate, I will see what I can find and keep you in the loop.
btw, your car looks nice in the flesh and I love the ride height !

Thx!
Talked to Peter again today. He told me to get rid of the TCV and just go for a manual boost controller since the stock wastegate is incredibly expensive and fitting an aftermarket WG can be slightly tricky due to the dumpvalve is being fitted on the compressorhousing... Havenīt really decided which path to choose yet though... I might just be lazy and go for manual BC instead of trying to fit an aftermarket WG.. :)
Id be asking Peter to find a compatible manual boost controller because there is nothing over here - or no one with the knowledge base to deal with modifying Volvos. I have searched on Swedespeed and there are several threads relate to your problem.
One thing you can do is speak to Adam @ Frank O'Gradys Automotives. 9344 4378. If he cant fix it, no one can. He knows his stuff!

Also decided to go the cheap, lazy way, so I ordered a manual Turbosmart boostcontroller today... Should hopefully have it by the weekend...
Adam>> Peter said to disconnect the hoses from the stock TCV, but to keep it wired up as the MAF gets info from there, so I should be alright with just a cheap manual boost controller as long as the stock TCV is still wired up...
Nice grille! Likes this.
I hope the Turbosmart fixes the boost issue.
Let me know if you want my old TCV. If you need it you can have it.
And damn, I wish Peter would reply to my emails as quickly as yours !

Hahaha, Itīs because I write in Swedish ;)
Oh, and I misread his mail, what he said was that the timing and fuelratio will be controlled by the MAF, so disconnecting the hoses to the TCV and replacing them with a manual BC shouldnīt be a problem :)
Liking the grille too, now I just need the facelifted headlights and indicators, but they are ridiculusly expensive! Just over $400 per headlight and the indicators are around $200.... Sick prices here in OZ...

New 0,8bar wastegate actuator installed the other day...
Plugged the TCV back in and itīs working fairly ok at the moment.
However, decided to get a HD TCV and a HD CBV from IPD in the US so that I have covered all bases just in case...
Also replaced the top engine mount with a powerflex bush the other day, more engine vibrations and 5cyl purr was the result :)
