Hello All,

As you may or may not know MC motorsports hold a 5 round motorkana series for teams in Perth.

This is held at the Airport Track.

Its a once a month event and is either on a Saturday or Sunday depending on where you sit in the draw.

You DO NOT NEED A MAD BOMBED car !!!!!

YOU DO HAVE TO BE KEEN AND WILLING TO SHOW UP !!!

Each round needs 4 competitors and costs $70 per person.

I would like to have a team of about 8 - 10 people. Then just rotate the drivers through based on who is available each month.

I am happy to answer any questions but please only say your keen if you are truly willing to turn up and drive :)

It is a great fun event and an excellent way to hone your skills. Antilag doesn't enter MC to win sheep stations. We enter it to have fun and get out there and DRIVE our cars :D

Oh,

Also forgot.

The first round is on July 10th.

You do need a lic(insurance) to race.

You now have two options, either a CAMS lic which is about $90 a year plus you need to be a member of a cams car club(another $40 ish).

or

A AASA lic which is $45 / year. The AASA lic can only really be used in WA. Its also only valid for MC and Paul Banks events.

So its up to you which lic you want to have :)

So its just thanging it around a track against other cars? Or what?

Also when you say you need a license - do you have to have a current drivers license or just one of those that you listed above? ie have AASA license but suspended drivers license?

I'd be fairly interested if so.

its a big motorkhana on the skid pans.

they would be about 80m x 30m or so and you fang it around the course, best times win. they do have two skidpans side by side so you do in effect race against another car but its not whom wins that race, wins. it's an overall time based event for the team.

not sure if you need to have a drivers licence though, i wouldnt think so as people under 17 can enter events with a cams licence. ive had a cams official ask for both our cams licence and drivers licence once before though.

To answer a few questions; you do require a civil drivers license - this is so insurance for the event is covering you. In addition you need either a CAMS or AASA license. To correct Simon - AASA can be used at any AASA insured event - it just so happens that its just MC Motorsport and AEM events are the only ones in WA - its more popular in Eastern States.

That said - I highly recommend getting the CAMS (Level 2 Speed) license - it gives you so much more oppurtunity for motorsport (ie hillclimbs, sprints, tuning days which are three times a month at Barbagallo, etc).

To correct Shaun - the length of the skidpan is about 290m - not 80 :P and its about 45m wide. :)

These events are so much fun, unfortunately I can't commit however if strapped may be able to fill in.

Most important note: its not the car that will make you do well - its the driver behind the wheel!

damn, i remember when back in primary school the 100m track was HUUUUUUUUUUUGE and it hardly looks any bigger than that to me. I can never estimate distances like that anymore :P

I blame it on the educationamul system.

just checked the website and we are both wrong

Circuit One is a purpose built bitumen area, rectangular in shape and measures 190 metres long by 33 metres wide.

Doh - 190m *sigh* typo. The maximum legal length for a autokhana by CAMS regulation is 199m iirc and I know the skidpans came close but did not exceed that. Wanneroo was 197m iirc (this is going back quite some time now!).

Hrmmm, 33m - ok fair enough. I know back in the planning stages it was supposed to be 45m. Then again, bitumen 190x12m is not exactly cheap!

hehe ill let you go with that one :P

bitumen is damn expensive, I wouldnt want it to come out of my pocket thats for sure.

also my car will not to too pacey in the twisty sections, a little to much lag and oversteer to keep up with wrx/evos etc

Butters - its always on a Sunday - but either morning or afternoon session (rotates each round). :)

So do you guys definitly have a spot in the winter series then? If so - SAUWA team will see ya down there! We are in a first season at the moment (finals next month) and its ALOT of fun. The other teams are really friendly and everything is well organised.

If you're just going to race in MC - the cheapest, quickest and easiest option is an AASA license. I wouldnt bother with CAMS unless your serious about racing at other events like Franz mentioned.

Don't forget you can get a CAMS 2NS licence which is around $40 and this will allow you to enter MC, AEM AND the Max Action events... and can be fairly easily upgraded to a 2S if you suddenly get the urge to do a sprint or hill climb event.
