I believe there is a mistake, and quite a large one.

In 1998 the sticker price for a HZJ80R Landcruiser "40th Anniversary edition" was $56,100.

Considering the time that has passed since then, the average kilometers on these are between 180,000-300,000kms. You are right in saying that due to its exceptionally low k's it should hold on to a considerable portion of its value.

However you are asking double the original sticker price, for a 12 year old car. Regardless of its condition, it has no warranty, and engine components such as coolant hoses and other rubber items would have perished. I would believe the chance of mechanical failure would be around the same for any 12 year old car.

I have to wonder then, what makes this particular example a better buy for $100,000 than, say, a brand new 2010 UZJ200 with a twin turbo v8? They only cost $77,400, leaving me with ~$22,000 for modifications such as raised suspension, larger wheels, bucket seats, and half a kilogram of cocaine.

Does your car come with a substantial amount of cocaine? Because the redbook price guide for these say that they go for around $14,000. Considering your exceptionally well looked after example, I would imagine it would be worth around $20,000 - maximum. So I would expect no less than two and a half kilograms of pure columbian white under the rear seats for the other $80,000.
