you can replace the pump, or remove the fins in the rear of the pump, and block the HICAS lines off.

because im replacing the reservoir, theres a thick pipe thats left there doing nothing, i can jsut block that, but because im changing the reservoir, i was wondering if the steering will go all funny if i keep the same pump in there haha

there will be an inlet and an outlet on the rear of the pump that are now unused. block both of them off, and removed the fins in the rear of the pump so it doesnt trying pumping fluid around.

did the same on my 31 as it has/had hydraulic HICAS, no issues.

Educate a chap. :)

Why do owners want to get rid of HICAS?
Is it problematic or does it have an adverse effect on handling?
Is it for skids?

On paper it sounds like a good thing...

mine was leaking like a sieve, and the bushes in the subframe were rooted.
much easier to bin it and put solid bushes in, makes the rear end more predictable as it cant move around as well.

mine would literally skate around if you gave it a bootful

ive also looped mine, from the rear so my hicas lines are still all there, so my power steering is like having no power steering atm >.<

Also means that when you go to do a skid/slide around a corner you do a smashing 180 degree spin out!

i just removed the whole system from my 180, takes quite a while to do, and i have replaced the rear rack with one of those lock bars.

as mitchy said i just blocked off the outlet on the pump, and also i blocked off the return hose to the reservoir. works a treat!

also apparently the hicas front steering rack has a better steering ratio, so less turns until full lock, but i dont know how true this is.

mine was supposed to have a better steering ratio too, so it's plausible! and i couldn't be fucked swapping the rack out.

did you remove the fins in the rear part of the pump? will stop it prematurely burning out.

So are you self installing a lock/cancel bar or just ripping it all out? I have been shopping around for a workshop to take care of the lock-bar as I am not to keen on DIY suspension work..

If you could kick it up a notch and supply some before and after results that would be awesome!

the pump thats on the car has only got 3 holes for the lines not 4... ?

remove the whole system stops it working lol, but saves weight i suppose aswell. but i assume you would still have movement from the rear rack, so thr lock bar acts like a brace in its place.

the thing is, after you install the lock bar, you will have toe adjustment, as the hicas rack sits in the place where toe rods would.

when i did it, i just traced the lines back to where they came from, so the 2 coming off the front rack, you leave connected, then there is 2 that come from the rear, one goes into the reservoir, which you block off, and one goes to the pump, which you also block off at the pump.

hope this makes sense
